Total # of offers to HS recruits.
So far, he only makes maybe 125 offers, we get 15-25 decent commitments. This results in poor depth at many positions, but Dabo ends up filling out roster with Daniel kids and numerous Christian school kids. Not against either of these but they often have built resumes playing in low divisions. Sure, Nuk and couple others from Daniel have been stars but those are exceptions.
With new 125 scholarship limit, Clemson needs to find 30-35 good players per year.

I agree, if we are set on HS recruiting and developing vs portal vie veiled tampering we have to be “all-in” on it and offer all of the good ones and build depth and just be prepared for the ones that develope and for the ones that dont to transfer. Transferring isnt necessarily the “dark evil thing that guys do who dont want to put the work in” type thing that gets narrated, its what happens when things dont progress on the timeline a program needs sometimes. Lets get em’ im here and let them compete at that level to start and do it right.

Unless we hire around 15 new coaches, we prolly need to get more exp portal players as the HS 5❤️s are not getting any development.

Roster management 101. Up until recently, it’s only been around 70 per year. Think about that. No room for error….. and you did that to yourself on purpose…..
This has been an issue for a while.
Like everything else, we leave ourselves with little margin for error. This is big reason why our talented depth has fallen. This is particularly harmful for rooms like the OL where it’s hard to project and you need more numbers. Wanna know why we are never elite at OL…
Between guys not panning out; getting injured; guys transferring; quitting football, etc…we come to the fight with not enough ammunition …on purpose.
This isn’t about philosophy anymore..it’s just unwise. We don’t need to offer 500 kids like a lot of programs but it definitely needs to be more.
You ever wonder why people like BV, former assistants, don’t follow this philosophy???

First we need to get rid of about 15-20 inexperienced and unqualified coaches. Then we go after a lot more players as you suggested. Then hire a good OC coordinator that Dabo will allow to run his own system and plays. I don't think Dabo will do any these things though.

This fails over time because of those 100 offers, most will commit to another school. That leaves a gap to fill with a 3-star or call Daniel High School for a plug N' play guy. Over time the quality of the recruit drops.

Even high performers in mid-majors are better risk. Portal players have proven themselves in D1 football against better competition. More and better film on portal players to make evaluation less risky.

A lot of the prime targets of recruiting already have a favorite school they already want to go to, a problem is, they keep you hanging until the very last minute before they go to twitter with a stack of caps in front of them and they pick one.

But im still of the opinion it needs to be to fill an obvious weakness. This past off season, an additional RB or 2 is obvious.
