Nope.
We ran 27 1st down plays tonight. 15 of them were runs, and 12 were passes. We ran on 1st down 56% of the time and passed 44%. That's great balance and would normally keep a defense guessing. And by the way, on those 1st down runs we averaged 4.7 yards per carry.

doesn't really matter what you do on first down when your offense is practically dead last in the country now, does it?
Good try though, you love the Tigers and this team. I do too. I respect that. But don't waste your energy trying to defend this offense.

TE play against Syracuse was, by far, the best of the season for us. Sure, our TE play overall was a long ways from O.J. Howard (or from former Clemson greats Dwayen Allen and Jim Riggs), but Davis Allen's unreal performance ... the series right before Halftime ... was out of this world.

56% of the time, is 56% to many times to call the very same play that is usually called on 1st down, and 100% of opposing teams stay ready for a 1st down run play!!!

In case you haven't noticed, running on 1st down has been the staple of offensive football for as long as football has been played.
By the way, maybe you missed the fact we averaged 4.7 yards on those 1st down rushes, and they were not the same play.
Are you that guy who would've said, "we've been running the ball great on 1st down, why pass?" if we did throw more passes on first down?

We averaged close to 5 yards per play on first down runs...
The problem is we kept getting stuffed on 3rd and two.
