gravy, mashed potatoes(gravy), green bean casserole, devilled eggs and congealed salad! Afterwards, a slice of red velvet cake with cream cheese icing!
My son had to get the hand truck to get me back to the bedroom tonight!

Your menu gets a big thumbs up, especially the first 3 items. I just enjoyed old fashioned mac'n cheese, energized by a pot of southern collards.

IMO collards are an under rated side item. Will be cooking a big pot in a few days as any self respecting southerner should on NYD

Question for you.....for years I've had people over on NYD for hoppin' john and broccoli (I hate collards) and corn bread - that is, if the Tigs arent playng.. My mother used to put a dime in the hoppin' john and whoever got the dime would have change in their pocket all year long. My friends here love it. My question is did my mother make up the dime bit or was that a widespread thing?

Never heard of that and I been eatin' dem colluds Fer nigh on 78 years. Started on 'em when I wuz 2year old. Eat the colluds an' black eyes and ery one gits da greenbacks an' change. Ain't no luck to it, ya jest gits hit.
