It isn't fascism to remove an someone who shows up at a press conference unannounced and charges the stage acting like a crazy person. Its too bad Democrats seem compelled to act insane in order to get cheap photo ops they can then show their brain dead voters but it seems to have worked on you so here we are.

He did not identify himself lol. I watched the video. He charged the podium acting like a crazy person. Secret Service thought he was going to attack Kristi. So they removed him and briefly detained him until he identified himself lol. Then he and Kristi had a conversation and exchanged numbers.
Do better Cata.

It took Hitler 59 days from when he was appointed Chancellor to completely uproot and nullify the German Constitution. 59 days. Using fabricated calamities to declare emergency power, and dubious laws to allow violation of individual rights in favor of the State's rights.
What say you, KeoweeIndians®? ClemsonRangers®? CaptCrash? Defend this. And see if you can do it without sounding like a 1933 Nazi.

Being a U.S. Senator from a state doesn't give you the right to crash any press conference being conducted in that state. If he WASN'T a U.S. Senator and just started taking over the press conference, he would be escorted out. If he resisted (as he clearly did), they would do so forcibly. I don't see this playing out any differently if, for example, Ted Cruz crashed Alejandro Mayorka's press conference in Texas spouting off questions looking to make a scene. Or at least I wouldn't blame them if they did the same thing. You are not given free rein to take over a federal cabinet member's press conference to grandstand. And to imply that that's the only way he can "get answers" seems a bit disingenuous for a U.S. Senator.

Certainly it's possible that this particular Senator is getting stone walled. But I'm skeptical.
Here's his commentary afterward.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E4fd2ozHlw
And here's the event (around the 6:10 mark is when he starts).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhWVxZF6J9s
I would argue that his portrayal of the instance is disingenuous. She was not taking questions. She was giving a prepared remark. You see journalists sitting down listening...if they interrupted her to start asking questions, what would have happened? And they were, presumably, invited. You can't let other people control your press conference. Especially not to grandstand.
And notice that he doesn't speak to what questions he had or how he tried to get them answered in his remarks...because that didn't really matter. What mattered was the grandstanding. As much as I hate this administration, I also hate our state of political theater even worse. Everyone get your noses down and get your jobs done. I am not interested in their political theater.
It will be interesting to see if Noem comes back and asks for evidence that their questions are not being answered, or that they have tried through any formal process to get information from her group. It won't matter because we, as Americans, rally around our "team". But my guess is that he's overstating their frustrations.

"fascism", then you won't object to Republicans interrupting Democrat leadership in the middle of their press conference to ask questions. Unless you're fascist, you'll stop your press conference and let the opposition party dictate what is discussed and when you'll be taking questions, and what those questions will be.

And this wasn't a mere interruption. This was a guy barging in unannounced and uninvited, moving aggressively towards the stage shouting down the speaker. He's lucky he didn't get a slug between the eyes since he's obviously too dense to understand basic human protocol in these types of situations.

So...according to her at least...they chatted for 15 minutes after the incident. And once again, I have seen no evidence that Senator Padilla made any attempt to engage with her office prior to his public display. ALL evidence, in my opinion, points to his actions being a political stunt. I don't say that as a "gotcha" on Democrats...both parties have members who pull stunts like this, but it doesn't mean that we as the public should play into them, regardless of our opinion of Kristi Noem or the administration's policies. Nonsense is nonsense. We should demand action. Do the work that we elected you to do.

she was giving a statement to the press and he walked up interrupting her and talking over her. I haven't been able to find great video of the entire sequence, but he seemed to be trying to push through/by security. If I'm seeing that correctly, it doesn't matter if he's a Senator or not, in my opinion. And he didn't seem to want to back down when security started to push him back.
It seemed more like he wanted to get kicked out, but hard to say for sure.

So even if he was out of line at the presser, once they had removed him from the room, there was no need to throw him on the ground and cuff him. They knew he was a senator at that point; simply removing him from the room would have sufficed.

He has far more authority to raise issues than Kristi Noem does; her office had been refusing to respond to his office.
DHS has always been government waste and this bimbo thinks she doesn't have to be held accountable by Congress.
IMO, Newsome should send in state police to arrest those agents for assaulting a U.S. senator.

I think she's a cluster-eff too, but that doesn't mean she's not allowed to give a statement without someone forcibly interrupting. If he wants to talk to her, wait until she's done speaking at the podium.
How the situation was handled shouldn't depend on what one thinks about the parties involved.

Would she have SS protection? Can anyone just walk in? I would think they had to know who he was for him to have gotten that close...

why it took absolutely no time for them to shove him through it and take him to the ground in the hallway. He was absolutely no threat to her. If someone is threatening you do that. Someone asking a question, no sir, especially not a US Senator.

Maybe the floor of Congress is different. Probably matters where one wants to get out of control and how out of control.

what would have happened if he didn't leave when confronted.
Same with MTG and Boebert - they were being very obnoxious, but not completely interrupting. But, what if they had? I would think all three would have been forcibly removed.

Quite simply there was no need for continued use of force outside the the room

And then force to the ground, handcuff and arrest. There was no imminent threat of harm. This is an example of excessive use of force by LE.
Most posters on this Board have seen bouncers in bars show more maturity, greater use of discretion to de-escalate situations.

The video that I saw is definitely not a good look. I would think Noem would have stopped the manhandling of Padilla if she could see him?
Did she see what was going on clearly? If so and she didn't halt Padilla being forced out of the room, that is unacceptable. Noem should be able to take a question from a Senator even if he interrupted her briefly. She would not have to accept a complete hijacking of her event, but that does not appear to be what Padilla was doing.
Padilla was not in the typical uni of a U.S. Senator, and it is possible LE did not know who he was or didn't believe him when he said he is a Senator?
Once he was escorted out of the room, it was overkill to have him on the ground and cuffed. Again, did LE know who he was? If they knew who he was, they should be put on administrative leave if not fired.
One thing is for sure, if there is not video before what I just viewed showing Padilla acting out?, Padilla is owed an apology from Noem and Trump.
Again, this one minute plus video is a very bad look, but I don't have all the facts.
I would like Noem to be asked if she saw what was happening. At least Noem didn't treat Padilla like her dog Cricket.

Gonna be a lot of whining about fascism over the weekend as states and cities attempt to prevent getting destroyed by violent Democrats who think they are above the law. Newsflash morons, it isn't fascism to not let lawless Democrats do whatever the #### they want to the rest of us. I know this won't prevent a dozen threads by the usual idiots decrying the govt having the audacity not to let them burn, loot and kill with impunity but such is life in a civilized (not fascist) society. Grow up.

Markwayne Mullin (R‑OK). Challenged Teamsters President Sean O’Brien to a fistfight in 2023 on the Senate floor? Was he detained?
