Have you shot/ handled a S&W 40 shield M2.0? That has been my edc for the last 2 years and I love it! The grip is pretty aggressive if you carry it under your shirt, but it will literally fit in the palm of your hand and in your front pocket comfortably even with the inter grated laser and is one of the main reasons I chose the desert eagle 1911U ( undercover) as it is the exact same size and the MP shield 40 M2.0 minis the beaver tail.

The only downside to the M&P shield that I’ve noticed on it is that I like to carry with the extended mag as it gives a better purchase on the entire grip but, the extended mag comes with an extension that will slide up the magazine. You have to slide the extension ring back down to the bottom of magazine or it won’t click into the mag well. You could fix it permanently by glueing the bottom of the mag to the extension I suppose. Over all, as you stated the S&W 40 shield is a fantastic weapon. I will continue to carry it but it would be hard to leave the 1911 in the safe looking all sad and stuff ??!

I've never ever had a problem with the extension grip not staying in place, plus I have an average size hand for a man that's 5'11", and only just a tad of my little finger is over the grip, but it is still really comfortable in my hand. It's a perfect conceal carry weapon mainly bc the shield frame isn't as wide as all other compacts, and ours is the Gen 1 that is a 1/2 inch shorter barrel than the shield Gen 2. I stick mine down the center of my back when I carry, and I've never had anyone ask if I was carrying, and my wife carries hers in an under the arm vertical shoulder holster, and depending on the top she wears, you can't tell that she carries either.

I just want to make it clear that we both carry for personal protection only bc older folks are targets for being robbed, plus, we don't want to be somewhere where an idiot decides they want to shooting everybody in sight, and if they do and don't kill us both at the same time, they will have a very bad day bc both of us shoot well enough to drop a man at 20-25 yards with 40 cal plus P ammo. I tell my wife all the time if it's possible to get behind some sort of cover to do so, and wait until they are about 5 yards away and shoot the first shot to kill and save as many lives as we can. We both also understand if we shoot center mass and they don't go down, they are most likely wearing a vest, then shoot for the shoulder, neck, head or even waistline/legs bc if you get them down, it raises your chances of survival!!!
