O310 State, Big 10 bad optics

Remember the Big 10 saying they would cancel football and play a spring season, for "the safety of their players". O310 State's representatives approved that vote.
After the ACC and SEC said, heck, we'll play, and the CFP Committee said we're still on track for CFP playoffs, the Big10 changed their minds.
But the Big10 came out with a very late start, a very abbreviated schedule, and conference-only games. Basically, no margin for error should some games not be played. Plus a rule saying 6 games would be required to get into their championship game.
They also laid out some of the most stringent COVID protocols "for player safety".
Then O310 State missed too many games to qualify for the championship game.
So the Big10 changed their minds, again. This time to let 0310 State into the championship game.
OSU wins that game, and for some insane reason, the CFP committee thinks they need to put them into the playoffs. So be it.
But now we find that O310 State has several players on COVID protocols, and will not be available to play in the first round of the playoffs.
So the Big10 changes their minds, again. This time to reduce the COVID protocols to get as many O310 State players eligible as possible.
So much for "player safety".

I guess no one else thought it was unusual that the bucknutz received a long intro at the "neutral" championship game which ended with the announcer labeling them the "world famous" Ohio State Buckeyes. Amazingly, Northwestern received much less fanfare.

The BIG 10 is big on making making big statements about "player safety". But they showed us how little they care about "player safety" when BIG money and glory is on the line.
