Back in the day Clemson always started at 1 unlike other schools that started at 1:30 and 2 and even 2:30 Always kind of backward and the excuse back then against night games was not enough hotels in the upstate for night games. That's certainly not the case any more.

Maybe you missed the fact that we didn't have adequate lighting for night games. We used to have temporary lights set up for late season 3:30 games. Hotels were not the main reason
