The 2025 portal was significantly weaker than past years. Coaches are learning the value of retention and players are learning from the bad decisions of others. They landed some players but still have lots of questions.

at least thats the story i've read. So we really don't know who their superstars are yet. But they apparently put together squad of them in terms of portal rankings. Plus Nussmeier is a seasoned vet that has heard nothing but how good Cade Klubnik is for the past 3 months so he'll be juiced up and ready to show out. I'd say top 10 is what they probably should be. Honestly Clemson wants them to ranked as high as possible. Doesn't hurt us one bit.

They are in the esecpn conference..... esecpn must have at least 15 schools ranked in the preseason so the strength of the teams are good and over inflated. It's a Sankey requirement.

They definitely have a top 10 team talent wise. Kinda underperformed last season but they brought in a lot of dudes in the off-season. I'd much rather play them early than late in the season.

As others have said, looking at last years results won't give you the whole picture for the 2025 Tigers. Outside of OL we kept the vast majority of our good starters and replaced the rest with high level transfers. Will it come together week 1? Who knows, but camp reports have us thinking this defense is gonna be pretty darn good. Obviously we won't really know until the bullets start flying.

Kind of sounds like what you were saying before the 2019 season. LSU is deservedly a top 10 team as is Clemson. It should be a good game. If the LSU offensive line can play well then you might be surprised at the result. Nussmeier had a better QB rating and more yards. Klubnik has more yards rushing. LSU has better RB's. LSU had the 51st ranked run defense. Clemson had the 85th ranked run defense. Pass defense- Clemson 53 and LSU 76. LSU has better linebackers and secondary. Clemson has a potentially better defensive line. Clemson has the better OL- their biggest advantage. Receivers even but LSU has way more speed. I like Dabo and don't like BK personnally but he is no slouch of a coach. This should be a great game in a great atmosphere but by no means should LSU not be ranked as such. Good luck with the game.

They are loaded man , the portal filled their defense with 5 star talents all over as well as a top 5 class. Neither our team recruiting class or portal class broke the top 30! Last season we lost 4 games and should have lost 5 barring a miracle at Pitt, we were blown out by UGA, Louisville , and shout down by the ##### ! Texas shredded our defense , so do we deserve a top 5 ranking ?
We have a glaring lack of depth at LB , and secondary spots so I am convinced we are top 5 material

We probably got a bump for playing LSU so a win for LSU is groundbreaking and a loss by LSU is a 'good loss.'
Either keeps all SEC games in the public eye.
Member being ranked 9 and Bama body slamming a Bowden coached team? We'll beat LSU by 12 or less and knowing Dabo our waterboy will be playing on the secondary before the end of the 3rd qtr. He just doesn't blow teams out this time of the year unless it a D2 type team.
It keeps the players humble and hungry and gives coaches plenty of film to work with the depth chart players.

Why are we ranked 4th? We beat no one last season. Pre season rankings are based off of recruiting, Portal, and returning talent. They check the boxes on all of those. Not to mention they return one of the top QB/RB duos in the country. I figured they would be ranked higher.
