That usually only applies when you voluntarily leave; if they let you go, that rarely comes into play and any decent attorney could negotiate him out of it if needed.

No compete clauses are not all encompassing. In other words they specify a geographic region or "cannot contact a specific customer list". I would be surprised if college coaches have a non compete. We all know coaches that move around and their former players follow, Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams, Deion Sanders, and a bunch of players. So it is unlikely that JS has a con compete or that it would stand up in court considering industry norms of practice.

You get fired/terminated no compete clauses are out the window.
