If Mickens was better than Turner, then Turner wouldn't be taking plays away from him.
Turner is a returning ALL-AMERICAN safety.

Turner's a coach on the field and an outstanding player in the ACC. He is not extremely competitive covering NFL-level receivers.

I was really looking forward to seeing the younger more athletic guys get a crack at that position. I’ll welcome NT back with open arms, but I still believe we need a serious shakeup at LB and Safety.

We need more athletic guys there badly, and we we have them. However, they sit behind players like Jake Venables and Nolan Turner. Of course don't tell the average Tigernet poster this becasue they're convied that these are elite players. The truth is, guys like Turner and the Venables boys would never start at Bama or Ohio State.

Disagree. The reason why the Venables brothers played and Turner starts is because the higher rated more athletic players are not grasping the defense as well and are not where they should be.
If Bentley was grasping the playbook for example, we would be seeing allot of that kid.
It is obvious that the ones that are not seeing allot of reps are too much of a liability to the scheme from an mental execution perspective. The coaches sons are going to know what they are doing much quicker as they grew up around it.
Bottom line is we are going to have a very strong 2 deep (3 deep at some positions) with a good rotation next year.

Getting Nolan back is a plus for reasons on and off field. He makes us better. Younger players will benefit from his leadership. Against top teams we played this year, our defense had tough time. We have players with little paws on helmet playing through ACC, but against those two teams, looked slow, overly dependent on the sideline and unable to catch those quicker opponents. I respect our coaches. Just an observation.

I'd love to see us pick up Henry Too'too if he leaves Tennessee. He'll probably transfer to a SoCal school, though. Apparently homesick and is a Cali guy.

Before the Ohio State game, they said that with all of the injuries that we had last year there were 23 different young men that started on defense. My guess is that close to 20 of them will be back, and I have faith that Coach Venables will correct the miscommunication issues.
