He was trying to go for the guys legs. The player on offense made that happen.

This is correct. No way the defender hits anywhere near the head and neck without the receiver dipping his head and the crown of his own helmet 2 ft in the last 5 ft of forward motion. Almost should be offensive targeting as he nearly crushed his own spine.

I agree, that's how it SHOULD be, but that is not the rule. It's still up to the defender not to lower his head and make contact in the neck or head area.

It's not targeting, imo. RB lowered his head. He lowered it like 4 feet to draw the foul. Personally, i thought it was the slickest thing ever to draw a targeting.

Maryland CB was laughing after the play. He saw it too.
