For everyone saying ,”why did u start Darden in must win”? So we should have thrown knakk or Smith right? Let’s see why: Darden is proven to be a solid starter, has tournament experience from last season (starter in win vs. Miami ACC Championship), if we throw knakk or smith we burn them for semi and ACC championship game. Then all y’all would be saying why is smith or knakk not getting this game or “we should have thrown Darden so that smith and knakk could have the the semis and championship”, hindsight’s 20/20. We ran into some good timely hitting and a little bad luck but the right plan was in place. And some of yall bashing Purify are sick minded how bout the 2 rbi hit to start the game or the big lead off double from the FRESHMAN some you “fans” are awful….. Go tigers !

disappointed, but not surprised.
Losing to Louisville and going 0-2 would not be surprising.
Going 0-2 in the Regional would not be surprising.

Darden was the right starter but second straight start where he got hammered early. Just another example why Bakich can’t trust any of the pitchers outside Knaak. Atleast Mahlstedt and Garris were ok in relief.

Mahlstedt was great and garris was pretty good he just needs to throw a little more offspeed to keep hitters off balance

I wouldn't say mahlstedt was great. He settled down but he did come in and give up a 2 rbi double his 2nd pitch. Obviously charged to Darden but still, you're bringing him in to induce an out and not allow any to score.
My problem was Darden got hit hard in the first. Fortunately he only gave up one. But as a coach in a win or go home situation, Darden has to be pulled in the 2nd after giving up a single and another hard hit double b4 his 3 run dinger. Yes a series in mid march or April, you leave him to see if he can get out the inning. Not in a do or die game.
You could just tell that 2nd double that Darden didn't have it. Who knows what happens, but coach has to pick up on that.
