New Story: Venables on Jackson: "The more you see of it, the more sick you get"

Venables on Jackson: "The more you see of it, the more sick you get"

Opposing defensive coordinators can only watch so much film of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson before they get sick. At least according to Clemson’s Brent Venables. Full Story »

Can't wait to see what Coach V throws at LJ. Want to see KJ34 get a couple of free runs at him!!

What Coach V won't say is that the Tigers bring a brand of D that Lville doesn't see often, if ever. Yeah, the run the spread and yeah they have a mobile illusive QB that can throw. But our dline, LBs, and DBS will limit some of their options, so we need to then limit his lateral movement into tackling lanes and make the tackles count. He can be frustrated into making mistakes.

I think that is the key. 'Frustrate him into making mistakes'. The more sewn up he is in the backfield the more desperate his decisions will be.

Last year we led 28-10 at the half. They scored 26 points in the 2nd half, us 14 and we won by 6.

Jackson is a handful. If we can keep him pinned up, he'll turn the ball over.

He definitely can be rattled. I'm sure Coach V is studying the tape of their bowl game. LSU frustrated him into a bunch of mistakes! Hope our game plan is to do the same!

Yea you are spot on with that, he can be frustrated into mistakes, atleast he could in the past and I don't think that has changed even tho he's improved as a passer. And like you also said they haven't seen a defense like ours that WR won't be putting up 180 yards receiving on our secondary and that rb won't be running all over us like he did against UNC.

I agree. Pressure him into mistakes. BTW, the Tigers just sacked Stiffen again. :)

Lemar and UL haven't seen a defense like ours, he impressed me with his improved throwing skills but I think his stats are padded against sub par defenses like last year. This is going to be a battle forsure. They got revenge on the mind which I think tbh might help us I think they are going to come out pushing too hard to begin with atleast and we need to capatilze on it if so. Everyone was talking about out dline against auburn but watching the game in person i noticed a more than a couple of those 11 sacks were coverage sacks our secondary really played lights out other than the 2 PI calls. The only thing is KB will need to improve his down field throwing. This is his first time he will have be able to watch his film against a good defense so hopefully he sees the open WRs he missed down field and will improve bc he missed a lot of wide open WRs down field but I think it will be pointed out to him and hopefully he can improve it, bc our offense will need to play better this week if we wanna make it out of UL 3-0! It's going to be a battle but Tigers are built for the fight!!! Let's kick some hiesman A$$ Saturday night!

yeah, right. He's not watching their late season losses.

Sep 13, 2017, 10:49 PM

The best way to beat LJ is to stop him before he gets started with a disrupting D-line. What does Clemson have....a disrupting D-line.

Defense will be all over him. Venables will have them ready to serve some pounding on Levar J.
