Scott Pagano: Three things you might not know

There are two or three things you might not know about Tiger defensive tackle Scott Pagano, and that’s okay because the quiet and reserved sophomore saves his talking for when he’s on the field. Full Story »

Great article. He was a key factor in us shutting down Notre Dame's running game.

His story is like many of the other players

Jan 22, 2016, 7:30 AM

patiently waiting and putting in the work to get better.

Really, stories like his are the reason Clemson is the team it is today.

The backbone of team unity.

Thought for sure he was part Samoan.

I watched specifically at quite a few this year. When I watched him he was always pushing TWO o-lineman backwards. Just as important as making tackles. If he can push two big uglies back or even take them on , it make life much easier for our linebackers. Most underrated player on team in my opinion.

"I'm black, Italian, and white."

So I guess therein lies the fourth thing we may not know... White and black are nationalities? ??

Only 2% of Hawaiians today have native Hawaiian blood. About a quarter-million native Hawaiians died of European diseases - diseases for which they had no immunity - within a decade of the discovery of the islands by Captain Cook. Virtually all of those who look Hawaiian today are either Japanese, Chinese or Filipino or a mix. Descendants of those who appear Hawaiian today were brought in to work the sugar cane fields. First the Japanese. When they tried to unionize, the plantation owners (American) brought in the other Asians. The plantation owners eventually acquired enough power, with the cooperation of the US President & the use of the US Navy, to overthrow the Queen in 1892. They had to wait until 1898 to annex Hawaii when another US President came into office. The native Hawaiian is virtually extinct.

Great article David! I had the pleasure of meeting Scott and his Mom and Dad after the pizza party and all I have to say is it was a real treat to meet them. They are genuinely great people and Scott is a credit to Clemson University.

I want to hire one of those Hawaiin HS Coaches

Jan 23, 2016, 1:09 AM

He looks ready for the NFL. I dont want him to tone anything down in the middle of that line. Go ahead and try to kill the other team, those OL are so big you can't hurt them, they just have bad knees.
