after the gun, actually grabbing the gun, would point to self defense. But then when the younger guy backed into the yard, the situation was probably no longer life threatening. But that's sort of hair splitting. What we don't see in the video is whether the old guy stayed on the pallet deck, or stepped off it toward the young guy. If the latter, clearly self defense, but if not, maybe murder. Even seeing the video, you would basically have to be there to know.
The young guy getting the gun in the first place was just plain crazy. They all know each other, nobody is going to rob anybody, just call 911.

But what is shown is nowhere close to self defense. If that is self defense then we can all just shoot people freely because we were a bit scared.
Didn't the article say that he went in the house and came back out with the gun? He could have just stayed in the house.

But that doesn't mean the entire event was unavoidable. None of it needed to happen that way, and this indicates (to me) more of an issue with how the law(s) is written and interpreted.

the dude was pissed about his kid and said he was going to drag them into court. Other dude goes and gets a gun and then kills the guy. He didn't have to pull a gun and after he did he was out of danger when he did shoot

I saw where they said it was deemed a justified shooting.
There was audio on what I saw and IIRC the guy that got shot was verbally threatening the guy's life.
Whole thing is jacked up and should never have happened.

Like he could leave there and go grab a bud light from Applebee’s and move on, but poof, the guy is gone. Like forever gone. It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around. After watching my mom and dad go poof…I have a hard time understanding it all.
So do you think that guy is in Heaven on hell? Like what happens?
After watching by this, I am in some deep thoughts this morning.

I would think if you kill someone, justified or not, it would have to be hard thing to deal with mentally. Plus with this incident, the ramifications to his own family is just devastating.

when you go in your house, dude doesn't follow you in, get your gun, come back out of your house where the person is, engage the person again, then back up and put two center mass.
If the guy (the kids father) followed him in the house, then yes I can see that. But you, the step dad got away from the situation, came back to the situation, shot an unarmed man, then tried to say it was a justified shooting
I'm not buying it.
And yes, now the kids have to live with stepdaddy who killed real daddy because the child wasn't there at the court appointed time.
And also, dude who got shot was a ####### idiot.
