Was thinking the same thing. Would love to see that question posed to Dabo. Does anyone think he'd answer the question.

Neff is literally a “friends and family” hire with no outside experience relevant to his current position. This board is profoundly stupid.

Neff came with Rad from Ga Tech, correct? Served roles in Clemson’s athletics department for a spell, then associate AD. That was what, 2015 or so?
THEN in 21 became AD.
I’d say those years spent were very productive and gave Clemson reason to hire him. Athletics overall look pretty dang good right now. Wimmens LaCrosse has a facility like no other. I have friends from across the country commenting to me about that facility.
Even if he was/is a friends and family hire, some of them are warranted and work out. Sane fans would be ok with some, heck, all of them if the team were performing.
Side note: you seem angry constantly. I bet/hope it’s just an online persona. I guess it plays the way you want it to, so good(?) for you.

It was an example. It is the only standalone in the country. It does not make money, but: Title IX.
Did I say we are fine? Nope. The discussion is about friends and family hires. Neff is possibly not one of them he has credentials that predate Clemson. Does that make him the best for the job? Of course not.
The problem with 99.99999% of you all is your emotional inability to separate fact from fiction. If it is fact and counter to your side, it’s all caps time and time to lose it. If it’s pseudo fact or fiction and it sounds good to support your views, it’s fact.
Neff is possibly not a nepo hire. Could be. Could just be the easiest path after Rad left. But he’s making moves. The vast majority of the sports programs are flourishing.
But I’m really glad I could pull that hair trigger you have. Made my day.

No. Head went to Ga Tech. He spent one year at Middle Tennessee State University before taking a job a Clemson. Neff is grossly unprepared for his job by any standard ever applied to Dabo’s hires.

I'm calling BS. Neff had experience at East Tennessee State and served in key athletic administration roles before he was hired in 2013 as an assistant at Clemson that worked under DRAD.. Many of Dabo's Nepo/ F&F hires don't even have FCS experience.

He had one year at Middle Tennessee (way to do your homework) before coming here in a junior position in the athletic department. If you don’t understand that makes him exactly what you’ve people are complaining about that’s on you.

Pretty good answer. But to clarify, he's saying a staff that's stuck together, like during our run, has appeal to some parents and recruits. But NOT an inexperienced group of coaches.
Interesting he says we operate on one side of the extreme. Wow. I like him. When was this interview???

Per the article linked in the X post this is a very recent event on campus: On Oct. 29, Neff participated in a panel hosted by Clemson’s Snow Institute for the Study of Capitalism called “Will Capitalism Save College Sports?” During the Q&A portion of the lecture, a Clemson student pressed Neff on the lack of outside experience on the football coaching staff

I still don't know how Dabo was able to hire his two sons as

"player development/assistant tight ends/wide receivers coach".
Dabo is a SC public employee of a SC public (i.e. taxpayer funded) University. While only the smallest portion of his salary is paid by the State of SC (rest from other AD sources), I can't see how he is not still subject to the SC Public Employee nepotism law - "Ethics, Government Accountability, and Campaign Reform Act of 1991".
According to SC Law "No public official, public member, or public employee may cause the employment, appointment, promotion, transfer, or advancement of a family member to a state or local office or position in which the public official, public member, or public employee supervises or manages." (Section 8-13-750 SC Code).
Maybe one of you lawyer types can explain how hiring is sons doesn't violate this law??
Why Dabo didn't just call one of his many FBS/smaller college football programs to assist them with getting a job away from "Daddy" to learn the ropes is beyond me. I'm sure there are programs like PC, Newberry or some other small school whose head coach would be more than happy to take them on staff should Dabo ask. Let them cut their chops in the small leagues and when they have put the work in - then maybe give them a shot at the big boy leagues. But this stuff of hiring the head coaches inexperienced children smells rotten and at some point either we donors or the taxpayers are subsidizing it.

Just a gut feeling here. I think we'll see less and less of this for two reasons:
1. Plenty of Tiger fans and supporters don't like the nepo stuff. That could mean less $$$ coming in. Especially since the team stinks this year.
2. Dabo is running out of kids.

Did the AD acknowledge that he is an inside hire with no outside experience relevant to his current position? If not, perhaps an interviewer should ask why it’s acceptable for him. Maybe he’ll resign to show how seriously he took this line of questioning.

Neff is one person. He succeeded at his original position to the point of he is promoted to his current position. It’s not anything similar to the football staff having 20 to 30 inexperienced hires.

Middle Tennessee State edit Neff began his administrative career at Middle Tennessee State University in their athletics department serving in several senior administrative roles, with emphasis in finance, facilities and external operations. Clemson edit In 2013, Neff joined Clemson University as their associate athletic director of finance and facilities, working closely with athletic director Dan Radakovich. In 2014, Radakovich promoted Neff to deputy athletic director. During his tenure as deputy athletic director, Neff has overseen more than $200 million in capital projects, assisted in the negotiation of several high-value contracts and helped shape Clemson’s athletic department physically, operationally and financially. Neff has also helped develop several key areas of the department, including the financial philosophy, fundraising, student-athlete welfare, and external operations management, and in 2019 was named one of Sports Business Daily’s Power Players.[3]
Per wiki. Looks like he had prior experience to me.

Actually it was Oct 29th at an on-campus event per Fowler’s article. It was a student who pressed Neff with the question during the Q&A.

From Fowler’s article. If you don’t believe him then call him out as a liar, but please provide proof.

Fowler writes for The State newspaper. They're just publishing it now. I don't subscribe to it anymore but it'd be nice to see the article.
The Q & A took place on October 29th on campus with various journalism students and other media. I don't think any of the Clemson media attended. CU media like hood or larry Williams.
The State article may go into more depth. Kudos to Andy, a Clemson student, for asking the question. Neff knew exactly what he was asking and believe me, Neff and the BOT have received an earful. People can say what they want about Dabo's equity, but Dabo does have a boss.
So, row86 and his cronies need to get their facts straight.

...Tom Allen and Dabo will have a deep conversation about the defensive staff (which they probably have already started) and Allen will have significant input into the decision about which coaches will be fired and who will replace them.
I suspect the same conversation will be had with Garrett Riley and while it won't be as much, Riely will also have significant input into the decisions made.

Don't say like Neff is an advocate of the " Friends and Family Plan ". This should make things very interesting in the months after the season is complete.

Neff has no credibility after keeping a coach for 12+ years and never winning.

Dabo has 2 natties, multiple playoffs, many conf championships.
Another Clemson coach to remain nameless. 0 natties 0 regular season championships 0 conf championships Seldom finishing above middle of the pack in a horrid ACC.
Yet, Neff has something to say regarding football and not basketball. And don’t try the pay excuse - both are highly paid. One has a great record, one does not.
