Need Opinion From Those D Gurus on GT Game

On the one GT drive for a TD it seemed like GT moved the ball almost effortlessly at times. What was going on? It seemed like 1st team players were in. TIA

Don't think we're real comfortable playing Zone , which is something we don't do much of.That and the fact GT QB made a lot of good reads and throws.

The screen pass hurt us. We were bringing heat on the QB and they executed the screen pass to the RB just behind the DLine very well a couple of times before we started dropping someone back. Best way to slow down a strong pass rush.

No need to look at Clemson for that drive...

Jeff Sims is a great talent with a decent cast of players around him. He is going to be successful in a lot of games. They went SUPER high tempo that wasn't sustainable for more than a drive and were able to counteract everything that our defense loves to do with short pass plays over the line's heads. GT, whether a solid team or not, still has college level players that will achieve some success...unfortunately for them, they ran into, what I truly believe, is one of if not THE best defense in college football, or they would have probably found the endzone a bit more.
Also, honestly with how their defense looks, I think GT will win 7 or 8 games this year easily. They are a scrappy opponent that will give a lot of ACC team trouble, that is if Collins can actually make a good coaching decision this season (VERY iffy).

Agree with your post overall, but GT's schedule is likely going to be much more than they can handle. Even five wins for them would be a stretch, IMO.

Got to give the GT QB credit. The zone made him find the holes and throw accurately, which he did. But our goal was to contain his running, which we did. I think he probably surprised even our coaches with his ability to find the open receiver and be accurate.

I give their QB credit, he looked like the better QB for most of the game.

They got some good breaks... however, we missed some tackles. To me, it looked like the LB/S was in position but took bad lines and missed.
It was fixed by the next series.
Keep in mind they had to convert a 4th and 6 that started the down with KJ got the strip/fumble. Mascoll was almost perfect to jump on it but took down simms. Then got a good slant/catch on 4th.
They had a good series out of the locker-room. Decent coaching job.
It isn't an issue if they have a good series. It is an issue if they KEEP having a good series.
