Need honest answer to question, not insults

Dec 1, 2013, 9:26 AM

I have heard lots of people complaining that the loss was due to coaching. How do you coach around 4 turnovers? How would spurrier and staff coached to make up for the first few turnovers of the fourth quarter and prevented the subsequent ones?

Turnovers are a result of pressure, being behind, forced throws, gang tackling and stripping the ball, qb being hit so he lobs it up, recruiting a punt returner, etc.

For one thing, ball protection

The soft schedule does it

OK we can all agree that ACC teams may or may not be better than other teams in the country

What we can't argue is playing in stadiums with 40-50K seats and lame ACC fans does not get Clemson ready for a much improved FSU team or USC

The ACC is killing Clemson in more ways than 1

Florida State is in the ACC and last I checked they are currently ranked No. 1. Its is not the ACC!

On Humphries last fumble he was trying to be a hero, when I feel like anyone would say to fair catch or let it go in that situation. If he was coached to do that, then blame coaching. But, I'm guessing that was Adam's call

coaching hurt was in offensive play calling. The run was working, but we did not stay with it. The passing went away from the quick throws to longer-developing stuff that brought the pass rush into the equation. Sammy's pass was pure play calling, which is done by the coach. Bryant's whatever on the first punt fumble might come down to coaching, who knows. And don't get me started on the defensive calls that left Shaw so open for the scrambles. We seemed to expect a DE to catch Shaw on some plays. Please!

Well, was it coaching that put everybody but 93 out of the picture when shaw would take off?

Six Turnovers & Penelties Are what killed us.Bottom line , the players are the ones who committed the turnovers not coaching.

Wet did a great job at shutting down Davis...did we forget about Shaw? Cooper? Just didn't make sense. USC adjusted and we did not

Boyd's reaction in the pocket befuddled me at times. One time 63 was doing good holding 7 at bay, instead of noting the action of his protection he runs backward and 7 slides off his block fora sack. If he had went forward, there were yards to be gained. Adams? Fundamentals. I think for the 12th game, no excuses. Football eye Q, would our players have known to position for a failed fg run back?

Honest answers

Dec 1, 2013, 10:16 AM

SC comes into game physical, confident, understanding assignments, understanding Clemson playbook and tendencies, ready and unafraid to gamble when needed, and expecting to win.

Clemson comes into game nervous, jumpy, not knowing when to call a fair catch, playing less talented seniors and juniors over more talented younger players, playing tight and afraid to gamble, and not understanding assignments.

Coaching is putting the right players in the right positions with the right mindset to make the right play. So ask yourself these questions. Does coaching matter? Does it go beyond recruiting? Why do some teams always play big in big games? Why do other teams play tight and make more mistakes in big games? Why do coaches earn millions and players nothing? Five yrs straight. Same SC game plan. How in the world do people absolve the coaches of responsibility?
