I don't understand all the nuances, but this is a win for FSU (and Clemson).
***** The latest (May 10, 2024):A North Carolina judge has paused proceedings in the ACC’s lawsuit against Florida State.
Judge Louis A. Bledsoe III granted the stay because FSU is appealing the conference’s complaint to the North Carolina Supreme Court. That means discovery and pleadings won’t happen in the North Carolina Business Court until the state supreme court issues a final resolution.
The ACC wanted discovery — the production of relevant documents — to continue in North Carolina during the appeal because discovery is likely to take place in Leon County, too (where FSU separately sued the ACC). FSU wanted everything to be paused during the appeals process. Specifically, FSU wants the courts to revisit its claim of sovereign immunity, which could prevent a North Carolina court from hearing a case involving a Florida state entity. ******

ACC will likely follow suit in Florida and appeal the latest decision from the Leon County judge.
And so it goes...

But they won’t get a favorable decision there

It's a race to see which court is going to have jurisdiction. FSU is going to slow down the NC court decisions by appeals and ACC is going to do the same in Fl. However, Judge Cooper in Fl. just made it clear that the ACC was court shopping and he will have none of it. So, the case is going to continue in Florida come hades or high water. And I am sure the same will happen in SC since Clemson's case is pretty simple.

It is almost impossible to keep someone in a relationship when they don't want to be there even if there is a contract. The only issue is how much money changes hands at exit.

This is right.
Even the ACC plants on here, you know, the ones that just joined TN, just to argue the ACC point…they know too.
There is no going back. The disparity in money is too great; & there are too many hard feelings built up over many many years of how we have been slighted, at multiple points, in favor of inferior schools, despite being the biggest money generator for the conference.
Its a marriage that has gone bad. The ACC only wants us/fsu for the $$$. It will get resolved one way or another.....multiple exit points.....barring a complete ######## of the pants by legal counsel....

With all of our success, it's just normal to seek out a younger, prettier conference that notices our successes instead of pointing out our faults.
