In with Graham Neff now

Just five of us, a small group, and he is detailing the disappointment of not making the NCAAT. He says Clemson should have been a tourney team.

He says there is a lot of frustration with how it ended, but Brad is getting the guys ready to play in the NIT.

Brownell is back for a 14th season. Neff said they will send a $40 million operations building for basketball to the BOT.

Maybe we were close to getting in, but we should be better than that in Brad's 13th season.

For the last couple of weeks we were or had been the first four out. Then it was said it would probably take the tourney championship or at least 2 wins. That didn’t happen and we were blown out in the semifinals. Just confused at those that seem to be surprised by being left out. Was not reading much from anyone, but JK and Cobbox, that thought we had much of a chance.

i know it wont happen..but if i was brad--id be in neffs ear and clements ear to BLISTER jim phillips..to MAKE him do something to call out the committee members and get some things changed..id be screaming to the rooftops..and phillips should be as mad as (*^*&%%$) about the whole situation and bias..i wouldnt put it past ESPN to have influenced the committee.. dont anyone dare tell me that ESPN doesnt manipulate a LOT of stuff..heck we KNOW that espn sets up UNC and PUKES non conference games because they want tv ratings ...and basically let the other schools fend for themselves..so biased and wrong

ESPN didn’t manipulate anything…

They were questioning why we didn’t get in. But the criteria was pretty clear from day one, Q1/Q2 wins must offset any Q3/Q4 losses. Apparently they felt like our 7 Q1/Q2 wins weren’t enough to offset the 4 really bad Q3/Q4 losses. All of those losses were to teams with a Net ranking below 150 and 3 of those were by double digits. When the bulk of your games are against Q3/Q4 teams to start with, you better not drop any of them.

and they should yell back don't lose to Loyola Marymount and Louisville!!! I think we should have been in, but with today's committee we made it easy to leave us out.

Not that Jim Phillips is worth a crap (commissioner, not the GOAT announcer) but all he has to say is tell your employee not to lose to bottom feeder teams.

Loyola Marymount would be a step up. It was Loyola Chicago.

I’ll never understand why institutionally we refuse to be good at basketball or have any expectations at all.

Except there was an “extension”…

If approved it will take a couple of years to build that new building. They can’t let him go until at least a one season after it’s finished. So yes they effectively gave him an extension.

it does not mean that. His present contract will expire before that building is completed. If that was any part of the intention they'd have bumped him back to five years and further reduced the monthly buyout terms. They could have justified it as necessary for recruiting - which the current lack of exemplifies. But I guess, ultimately, we'll have to find out the hard way.

Ask him if he understands that the majority of fans are unhappy with the decision and that may result in reduced donations.

I would guess this small select group didn't ask any tough questions like what is going to be different in Year 14 compared to the first 13 years. 2 NCAA appearances with his own players. But wait, there's a plan.....................................
