My take on Dabo Not Accepting Transfers

It all goes to Dabo sitting in recruit home explaining to mom & dad that Clemson was the best place for their son.
He tells them Clemson is "FAMILY", & their son may he be walk-on or a 5-Star recruit will be given every opportunity to make it as the best NFL player or the best businessman, doctor or garbageman.
Years pass and a Transfer Postal opens up with a player better than your child & that player can win Clemson a championship & Dabo benches your son cause winning that "RING" is more important then keeping his promise to your family and especially your son.
It ain't gonna happen.
Championship be d*mn, Dabo won't go back on his word.
Let me be clear, Dabo said "as for now", he won't accept transfers.
I want to make a statement to the world, if you gonna beat the Tigers, 2019 is the best time to do it.
LSU & the rest of the college football world, Clemson run for this decade has already started.
Sit back and pray that superstar players will always drop in your lap every year to help you win a championship, it ain't gonna happen.
Go Tigers!!!!

I haven't thought about it that way but it is probably something to it. I tend to think that "for now" gives him the flexibility to take someone if there are extenuating circumstances. I don't think that he would get to the point that he would take someone transferring for playing time, though it would not be likely anyone would have that thought.
I wondered if he considered DJ's old teammate, who didn't make it to his freshman season before entering the portal in Florida. If the kid's version of the story was accurate, he asked to change roommates and the Florida coaching staff refused. Shortly thereafter, his roommate was charged with sexual assault. I also wonder if he would consider someone in a similar situation to a few kids who have transferred to be closer to family members with health problems.
What I am getting at is that I think he might consider a young man on a case by case basis, where football is not the primary motivation. I expect that if he accepts any transfers in the future, that it will not be to improve the football team, but as a positive addition to the Clemson Family. There will have to be a reason that he thinks that they are All In now, when they were not previously, and "I am looking for playing time, exposure, or championship rings," won't cut it.

Very well put together post. Dabo doesn't stray and I think any kid that isn't shady characters see that.

Dabo is not making recruiting the portal something our program does. We have taken transfers though. We had a backup QB from Stanford on the team a few years ago that was a grad transfer. we had a kicker this year, Steve Salwieki, who transferred in. I think there could be an odd circumstance where we would do it for depth. For example if KB had left before the season last year and we were down to two scholarship QBs, we might have taken a one year grad transfer as an insurance policy for Lawrence and Brice potentially getting injured

Were these young men on scholarship? I don't believe that Steven Sawicki was. If they are not on scholarship, it makes it a little different situation.

As BAREFTN mentioned, I don't believe the QB or kicker came in on scholarship. Anybody can walk on. As you know Dabo does not take juco transfers either for the same reason as not taking portal transfers.

I like what you say, but do not see the talk between Dabo and mom and dad the way you see it re. a better player coming aboard as a transfer causing their son to be benched.
Dabo would never promise any kid or parent that once the kid earns a starting spot that he will never lose it to a better player. Dabo is always looking for and recruiting "better" players every yr. And some of those recruits may end up benching a starter. TL la an example. He not only benched Bryant, but he caused The transfer of Hunter Johnson and Bryant. There may be other examples.

Those players had their chance to play at Clemson and chose not too. Only on extreme circumstances.
