I believe he knows he has the job. Why else would he openly admit he wants it then risk getting embarrassed? Also, if he’s the HC, he will be the hitting coach, nobody else there to undermine him, just like at Clemson.

He is definitely in the top 3 and may already have the job. Going outside the program didn't work and I think Tanner is comfortable with Monte though his style of play(longball) is different than Tanner(small ball) We'll see.
