Mike Reed will definitely have to earn his paycheck this year

CB is by far the weakest and most questionable position group we have maybe outside of only the place kicker. Terrell is solid, but there is very little in experience and proven after him. I'm not sold on Lewis yet after his up and down Freshman year and now he's missing valuable reps due to injury. Lukas stays hurt and when he has been able to play, he's gotten torched quite frequently. Watching his high school tape, I always thought he was more of a Safety than a corner because all his highlights were "hit sticks" and not so much in the way of coverage. In the small sample size since he's been at Clemson, it's been the same thing. Strozier is an unknown guy, but I see #1 on Defense getting cooked in several of the WR highlights. Not a good sign. Everyone else is a true Freshman so you have no idea of what you're gonna get. Every team we play, particularly early, will look at our roster and quickly ascertain that corner is the possible weak link. Be prepared for those guys to get tested early and often by UGA. I expect the guy opposite Terrell (whoever that may be) to get picked on a lot. I bet Dabo and Coach Reed know that too.

Hope we don't see too many repeats of Wake Forest 2022.

Good lord that was crazy game. For the first time in what felt like 3 years, I was happy with the passing game, only to be equally upset about our secondary.

Would be nice is A. Hampton is the 2nd coming of Justin Miller from the Tommy Bowden days as a True Freshman. Their builds are similar (Miller was pretty muscular for a corner too), but I don't think Hampton has the wheels Justin Miller had.

Sure hope some take a big step, or as you suggested, the incoming unknowns become known real soon... and for the good reasons.
The only sample we have is the bowl game, and that was ugly.

Reed and Wes might run a defense similar to what the Ravens did with Nate in their first preseason game. They left Nate on an island and the rest of the defense either played zone or gave the other corner Safety help over the top. That's why Nate got so many targets. That was pointed out in one of the film breakdowns of Nate's spectacular debut. AV would be the Nate on our team. This scheme along with various 5 man pressures may be the best way to "hide" per say the guy opposite Terrell until a stud emerges.

Put the young bucks on the field and gamble for INT's.

This is just a continuous cycle. Coach Reed will generate a high NFL draft pick or have All conference selections move on and he has to develop young group. They may take their lumps early but they will get better. History has shown us that. It is because of this that he is regarded as one of the best in CFB. Glad he turned down offers from UGA, Ohio State, Bama to stay at Clemson. This is one position that, in the long run, will be fine. NO MORE TALK!! AUGUST 31ST IN THE GEORGIA DOME @ 12 NOON. BEAT THEM DAWGS!!! GO TIGERS!!
