Yesterday, D1 Baseball released their first bracket projections.

(4) Clemson
- Auburn
- Southern Cal
- Fordham

(13) Arizona State
- Cal Poly
- Virginia
- Nevada

Due to geography being a major factor in regional selection, we're very likely to get an SEC school. Can't say I'd be too mad about Auburn however compared to some of the other options. Long season left to go however!

We will host and will have an SEC team. Guaranteed. With Oregon, Oregon state, UC Irvine, or a Big 12 team, that will probably leave 12 to 13 east hosts. D1 and BA are being coy, the SEC will get at least 12 teams in. Probably 13. Gotta beat good teams no matter how we end up.

Auburn is a very solid team and USC would be a strong 3 seed. I feel Arizona state is getting the easier regional in that scenario.

But it’s mid season and things will change.

Me personally I think teams should be seeded 1-64 and then put into the bracket with small adjustments made to keep inter-conference matchups out of the tournament in the early rounds. The whole geography thing is dumb imo

There is no reason a 13 seed should have an easier regional than a 4 seed

The geography thing is asinine and at the same time a load of BS. How is southern cal and fordham (NYC if you didn't know) geographical and Virginia for Tempe. I agree there should be a more logical 1-64 seeding. The current format does lead to certain higher seeds getting way tougher draws. Its tough no more how it shakes out but we got hosed two years ago with Tennessee as the two seed. In the end you gotta win and it gets real tough real quick.

A lot needs fixing if we’re going to be that high of a seed. One good starting pitcher, good bullpen, too many BB/HBP, off/on hitters with way too many strikeouts.
