Clemson ranked highly in updated Sporting News preseason top-25

The spring happenings offered changes in some national rankings, but Sporting News maintained its high opinion of the Tigers. The reigning champs Alabama top the post-spring ranking, followed by Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Georgia. Clemson was also No. 2 in its January 'too early' rankings. "T Read Update »

Take the pre-season polls and $2 and you can buy a coffee. No team is anything until they are.

A cup of coffee used to be 0.25c... kinda' like my undergraduate degree in Architecture back in the day - that and a quarter would get you a cup of coffee.. like a degree in 2nd-ary Ed. Just sayin', and my, how times have changed!

Go Tigers!!!

Maybe Coastal can grow into a good in state rival

The "in state" rival will always be USuC, history and tradition demands it - period. Yes, I'm an old timer, but it is what is is, and always has been. Many old time "iffy" rivalries today, but I don't mind saying that CU and the Terp's was always a knee-knocker for the ACC back in the day.

Go Tigers, always!!!

Let’s start with getting Coastal on our schedule, and SC State OFF.
After the game, both schools could send SC State a check for a donation.....

I like that idea, it sounds like the perfect solution for taking away the risk of one of our players from getting a season ending injury, by playing in a useless game where SC State being the only team to gain anything from, like the cash they get to come in for a beat down.

If they need the donations that bad, they should schedule with usuc, that would give them a chance to get paid, and a chance to get a win along with the sizable donation!!!!

Couldn't agree more! There's money for EVERYONE

Or better yet, have EVERY top-24 CFP-ranked team replace one FCS (or equal) opponent with another top-24 CFP-ranked team.

Think about it. What if instead of SC State we played, say, Michigan? I know Michigan isn't competitively elite right now, but they are only one example; just imagine the matchup & the revenue, interest & money as a result.

Every team has that game they can replace, and the revenue from any of them would be vastly more than enough to pay for a program like SC State's entire season & then some (think about teams like PC with no scholarship players, for example).

PLUS we'd benefit by having a big name/game on the schedule instead, guaranteed, and for all CFP-ranked teams. We'd control our own destiny to things like the Heisman better than ever.

And this is the first time we can do this. There has never been a singular ranking system like the CFP before; it's only a shame we use those rankings for just 2 games a year is all.
