Now they have been hired by the BIG to be their whopping boy. Couldn’t happen to a better place.

I hated watching us make that trip there. Always felt like no matter how much more talented we were than some of those Maryland teams, we were always in dogfight. Can’t say I was upset to see them jump from the ACC ship.

Tons of empty seats just proves life is no better for them in the B1G. No one cares about those rivalries. They had better rivalry games in the ACC.

Maryland had some good basketball rivalries in the ACC, especially when Lefty was their coach.

I went to the Clemson/Maryland game at College Park in 1978 and it was the only time I’ve ever feared for my safety at a football game. An absolutely awful fan base. I swore I’d never go back and when they left the conference I said good riddance.

I was there in '78 as well, and I have to agree.

But honestly surprised he’s still kicking around in his late 70’s. Don’t know if that’s a credit to modern medicine of if Friedgen just has some stubborn genetics.

Len Bias was the best basketball player I’ve ever seen.
And Lefty was so much fun to yell at from the student section.

When Michigan, Penn state and Ohio state play at Maryland they put 50,000 of their fans in Maryland's stadium. Huge fan bases w lots of alumni living in mid Atlantic. So terps end up playing 2 fewer home games each year and BIG10 teams play a few home games at MD each year.
So MD does well financially but they are essentially renting their stadium, recruiting territory and almost entire program to BIG10 for a healthy paycheck each year.

I attended the comeback victory at College Park in 2011 (56-45). One of the best games I ever witnessed in person. Sammy Watkins was unstoppable. The MD fans didn’t have much to say that night. Go Tigers.
