Posted on his X account that his agent informed ESPN that it was a good time to retire.
Personally I will miss him - thought he was intelligent, entertaining and great for Clemson!

Sounds like now before next academic athletic year starting with ACC Football. Wonder who they get to take over the daily ACC PM show? Probably someone in Bristol where the ACCN is located. Pack did his show on satellite from his home.

Going to be a sad day when that happens. He was one of the lone bright spots for the ACCN. Always had great calm commentary, interview skills, and was very fair in his assessments.

The wording of his announcement was kinda weird

Like it wasn’t entirely his own decision or something

Bring back Prime Time With The Packman Circa 2003. Best thing on the radio.

I hope his replacement is not Andrea Adelson and that other dude that does that one ACC show.
E' Mac would be a great replacement and I would imagine Taylor will still do it in some capacity. I would assume its moving out of Packer's basement in Charlotte and into the ESPN studios.

I knew Mark a little back in the day when he was working for the Orange & White and had a full head of hair. Always been a great guy and congrats to him on his retirement.

He never worked for The Orange and White, but we did share an office with him.

Loved his Prime Time with the Pack Man show in Charlotte...

that was really the best sports show I'd ever listened to. Fun, light-hearted...he would give grief to programs that were struggling in the area but it was never that biting abuse that we hear so often now a days in sports talk. And he didn't act like everything was the end of the world or the greatest thing ever. Just had fun with it. I didn't catch him a lot on ACCN...he seemed to be a bit more straight-shooting and less goofing off, but I always liked him.

He was the ACC good ole boy type for sure. Maybe ESPN is looking for the opposite- The Paul Finebaum ACC version. lol.

But you may be right; Pack was consistent, but relatively mild in his support of Clemson and the ACC. NOT REALLY A “hot take” guy. But clicks and press are king.
Will be sure to watch ACC PM today.
