Please – though I am flattered by so many hundreds of your Tmales flooding my inbox and correctly suggesting that I am a prescient soothsayer full of analytical wisdom, I just want everybody to be safe.

Does it really matter that I knew exactly what would happen to the floats? Does it really matter that I was the first to predict their downfall? Does it really matter that I’m basically always right?

Actually, it matters quite a bit, which is exactly what all of your hundreds and hundreds of Tmales are getting at, but I cannot toot my own horn in good conscience and not prioritize the safety of my admirers.

Please make sure you are safe before sending any more fan Tmales. And then send them.

... doesn't have any shingles on the roof. At least from the webcam view it looks like the roof is still just plywood (which is not going to keep any water out).

Wonder if it is a total loss.

That would be a bummer.

From Hood’s article yesterday.

The students have been hard at work since last week on the floats, but the process went into an accelerated mode as the word spread of the impending storm and its arrival later this week. With heavy rains and sustained winds of 35 MPH and more in the forecast, the decision was made to judge the floats on Wednesday and have them disassembled beginning Wednesday afternoon.
