He is by far the most dependable reliever they have right now. He has become Mr. Consistent.

LUCAS HAS DEVELOPED INTO A PROFESSIONAL WITH JUST A TINY TWEEK IN HIS ARM SLOT. PICKED UP 3 MPH

Wasn't tiny tweaks in his arm slots that's making him that much better.
He busted his rump all off season working with professionals and labs. Coach B helping him a bunch in situational pitches. So I wouldn't call it tiny.

The fact he can get his fastball up to 91 mph is impressive.

He was nails this weekend. I always hated hitting against sidearm guys.

Yeah, for all the criticism, he's done quite well. Vastly improved this season. With a sidearmer like that, it is important to have some other more conventional guys in the pen with high velo who can potentially come in and close if Mahlstedt is off one day, because when sidearmers have a bad stuff/control day they can really get hit hard, more so than regular pitchers. But Clemson should have that, because they've got several other good relievers. And that's not to say anything bad about Lucas either, because he's been consistent thus far. I think some people get nervous because sidearmers tend to be very boom/bust, and are often used as more of a gimmick. But there are a few who have done really well. Mahlstedt has improved his velo and proven his abilities at this point, so credit to him.
