Not saying we should be in the top 25 by any means. However what are thoughts on LSU still being in top 25 apart from SEC bias. Both have 2 losses to currently ranked teams. One of those for both teams obviously Florida state. They got destroyed by them with no doubts who was better. We took them to overtime and in reality should have won. How can voters have them in without question and we have fewer votes than Air Force. I know it will work itself out if we keep winning but trying to understand a reasonable explanation.

Apparently the loss to a one-loss Duke team MEANS more.***

we have to accept the fact that we are not PROVEN anymore
time to earn it and BYOG
imo these super seniors aren't even going NFL because of the DUKE and FSU games we should be heavily investing in the future of the underclassmen immediately
if you look at the worst Clemson seasons in the last decade, it's all from 1-2 recruiting classes. just saying.

Those Covid classes really hurt. Somebody made the point that the long distance recruiting and evaluation really fell off compared to the other top tier programs and that really stuck with me. The last couple of classes seem to be turning around but results will be the measuring stick.
I'm on the fence about the Super Seniors. Maybe some the guys the Tigers lost don't transfer if Davis and company moved on. Even if they stay, I'm not convinced the roster is better. The depth definitely would take a hit. Imagine this roster without XT, Ruke, Davis and Mascoll. It would be REALLY green and thin, especially with Burley and Williams out.

Jeff Scott leaving had a huge impact. And Brent Venables only playing his type of LBs (sons and friends of sons) had a huge impact. Covid did too. And the recruits that came from not the deep south just play soft.
i actually don't think highly of the defensive line from this season and previous seasons. And am so excited to see next seasons defense.
imo
Once Vic Burley is healthy, i strongly think Burley PWoo and TJ will fill that gap easily . then the depth - we use to not cycle DLine out like we do now. I could see us going back to that.
Khalil Barnes and Aveion Terrell will probably jump over Jaedyn Lukus and Torino Pride Jr.
Then there is Sammy Brown and Wade Woodaz and Jamal Anderson (and a few other LB beasts).

Yours is 100% on target. It's laughable the bias, but the ranking each week is a vote by a coach, and not a physical test on field, so bias will always creep in, stomp in, etc.
Very good post.

I really and truly think the Tigers not being ranked is a product of measuring them against the Death Valley standard of the last 10 years. "They aren't as good as they have been."
That's a narrative many Tiger fans share with the media and it's is hard to argue based on results. It's as big a problem to overcome as the 21 point loss to Duke and the abysmal first have of the Charleston Southern game.
There's enough threads about losing BV, Jeff Scott, the inexperienced coaches etc. I'm not saying those don't carry weight. They've just been hammered by us keyboard warriors. Put all the turnovers, perceptions, QB play of the last 2 years, lack of playmakers on offense etc. in a blender and this is what you get.
I don't have any numbers to support it but my guess is that over half the country expected Clemson to get blown out by FSU. They got a lot of credit for how that game was going. I think that is the first time in a long time you could point to multiple situations in a game that felt like the Tigers were out coached. There's been games (2019/2020 playoffs, 2022 ND immediately come to mind) but not really multiple specific moments like that.
While this team hasn't arrived, it is on the way. I'm encouraged by MOST of what I see on the field.

and an equally bad Arkansas team, while Clemson beat a 4 - 0 Syracuse team on the road.
LSU still being ranked is a bit of a head scratcher for sure while Clemson is barely in the category of "others receiving votes".

We would be favored to beat LSU head to head.
Honestly, I don’t think the spread for a hypothetical game with UGA would be much if anything at all.

Honestly, I would think it would be obvious by now that the AP poll and to some extent the Coaches poll are complete shams. The AP poll relies on journalists and talking heads from the major networks to vote in its poll. ESPN votes up SEC teams; NBC,CBS, Fox all vote up Big 10 teams. No one else has enough people with voting power to be ranked unless they beat a Big 10 or SEC school, and then only because it will help the team they beat have a better "resume" for the playoff. Wyoming is 4-1 and has beaten Power 5 competition. Wyoming's schedule is no worse and I would argue better than Kentucky with the one loss coming to Texas. However Kentucky finds itself ranked simply because is looks better for Georgia this weekend. If Kentucky loses this weekend they will still be ranked "because they lost a close game to the #1 team". The myth that the 12 team playoff will "even" things out is dumb. It will only mean 12 teams from the Big 10 and SEC will be in the playoffs. Currently 16 of the top 25 teams are SEC and Big 10 teams or future members. Coincidence? Only 2 teams outside of those two conferences are in the top 12; ND because they are NBCs baby and FSU for beating LSU, which keeps LSU on the fringe or ranked.

Time to move on. It is what it is. We did this to ourselves. Duke got squashed. We had no business losing to that bunch. And if you can't kick a 25 yard field goal, you usually get beat. We've got some rally talented players and they are busting their backsides to win. As coach says, we have to play complimentary football. Mistakes and the failure to execute (OL, WR, kicker) are killers.
