That "other" clemson site is talking about him as a possibility at dc should there be an opening. I would be highly disappointed with that choice. Just my opinion.

I think Dabo would make a splash hire from somewhere else. Whammy’s DC career ain’t too good. Analyst is the proper spot for him.

if the answer is NO then I'm not sure why Dabo would bother. We once had the TOP paid coordinator in the country who was also the top DC in the country. With the FUNDS at Dabo's disposal we "should" be getting at least a top 5 DC in the country.

What percentage of the time does Dabo hire one of the top coaches for their position at Clemson? I can really think of three… BV, Riley, Luke

BV wasn’t the best DC in college football when Dabo hired him. I remember many posts on here of people questioning the hire. Also Chad Morris worked out pretty well too and Jeff Scott worked with him to develop his offensive that won us a couple national championships. It’s not always about getting the best coordinator in the country, it’s about getting the best fit for our program. Not every DC is going to work out at Clemson and a bag of money doesn’t change who someone is and I’d argue getting someone who is hungry for success is better than someone bring their ego with them. Dabo is friends with a lot of retired very successful coaches and I’m sure he is asking for their suggestions as well. Just because someone isn’t a big name yet doesn’t mean they won’t be one after a couple years here.

You have to admit hiring Ward as his special assistant was a bit of a strange hire/job title. Then with the new rule he slides into assistant LB coach. Having him on staff felt creepy to begin with. What started as Dabo trying to help out a friend from his Bama days, now begins to look like a shadow on Goodwin. Was he trying to use Ward as a mentor for Goodwin that just failed miserably?

He might well be a "courtesy" candidate, but I would be very surprised if he ended up to be "the guy". We urgently need someone from the outside who can bring in a different mentality, like Coach Luke.

Dabo will hire a very good Defensive Coordinator if it doesn’t come from within. Mike Reed might be the choice..

I hope not. I keep seeing people mention Jim Knowles. I would love to see that. The only downside I see about him is his age. But he gets the best players to come to OSU. I also don't know why he would consider leaving there, but if OSU loses, Ryan Day is out more than likely. Maybe that is why.
