I see the SEC and B1G going their own way. They just setting themselves up and I understand but college football is bigger than those 2 conferences. I’m not sure what the answer is but seeing how things have and are going they will definitely try their hardest to screw things up.

They know how eSECpn spins the Narrative to get 14 eSECpn teams ranked in the Top Ten. And then just swap places as they "beat each other up." They know eSECpn would take extra spots if all at-large via "rankings." Like they did in baseball. Had no idea who would win out, but odds are definitely in your favor when you've stacked the deck. It's Vandy. It's Texas. It's Auburn. Wait, it's Arky. Hey, we'll take LSU. Tada!

You won't admit the ACC is so weak that Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss or LSU would win that conference if they were in it? I know Brian Kelly has a way of losing when he shouldn't but there is only one or two decent teams over there.

A young person could have been born, went through grade school along with failing several grades before graduating, been accepted to Tennessee and taken 5 years to graduate and that young person would still not have seen a football Tennessee National Championship

But if Tennessee had been in the weak ACC they would have had six titles. Cruise through the regular season and wouldn't be beat up for the playoffs. That's the Bobby Bowden way he had at Florida State. He ran from the SEC to a conference so weak only one team would even be a threat during conference play. Is there really a statue of that coward outside their stadium?? "Anybody would be crazy to play that schedule over there." That's what he said in an interview and was able to talk FSU into running from the SEC and joining the ACC.

I agree with you.
I’ll never forget the ignorance of Missouri when they joined the toughest division in football, and due to pure arrogance ,acted as if they could go from being a middle of the road Big 12 to actually competing for a SEC Championship. Derek Dooley taught them real quick how the big boys play football. The SEC will make you tougher , proven by Texas last year. Can’t seem to get over the hump year after year in the Big 12, then boom , toughened up like longhorn fans had not witnessed in 20 years. Thanks solely to teams like Tennessee.
Since many things have changed since 2007, I can’t imagine the confusion many Tennessee fans will experience in trying to locate the Georgia Dome this December when they venture to Atlanta for their 18 year anniversary celebration of their last appearance in the championship game .

Yet Missouri had two SECCG appearances right after joining. Guess the SEC is more like the B12 than the B1G.

But a team that loses to Vandy and gets blown out by a mediocre Sooner team might not even make it to Charlotte.
And, a team that struggles and takes 8 overtimes to beat a 5-3 ACC team might not make it to Charlotte either.
Maybe a team that loses to a 4-5 B1G team might not even make it to Charlotte.
But, at any rate if you changed your original post to "...would probably finish 2nd in the ACC, you might get soem agreement on this board."

I’ve seen several people here trying to prop up GT’s loss to UGA as some kind of statement about the ACC. The SEC Champ beat the ACC Champ 34-3. A middle of the pack SEC team beat that same ACC Champ. A couple of years ago the SEC runnner-up beat the ACC Champ by about 60 points.

Everyone I have talked to has agreed with me that if UGA doesn’t make a miraculous comeback against ACC Ga. Tech last year, they most likely would not of had enough quality wins to of ever had the opportunity to get knocked out early by 2020 ACC Championship participant Notes Dame.
In other words , it wasn’t the wins over Kentucky/ Tennessee. Tech/Umass/ that impressed the committee, it took a win over ACC Ga.Tech to prove yall belonged. That is very telling

but none of the aforementioned makes any difference in context. SEC teams, even Georgia, can struggle against an ACC team. Kudos to Georgia for slipping by Tech in a game that should have been a blowout. Sucks for Clemson we didn’t show up when it counted, but we both know Clemson will be better this year on both sides of the ball where it matters, in the trenches. Talking about a couple of years ago is about as relevant as UGA was before 2021.

They are 7-2 since 2010. They would certainly be in the mix for a championship. They might have gotten 1 there is no doubting that. The ACC isn't trash like some make it out to be but the sec is a little better top to bottom. They usually have 5 or 6 pretty dang good teams and the acc usually has about 3.

It’s too bad Tony Petitty doesn’t see how weak it is to require more AQs than ACC & BigXII than to earn it on the field. Something SEC coaches were wise to put out there and change the SEC’s stance. 5 + 11 will still be dominated by the Big 2 but let it be clean and clear.
What the Big 2 are really trying to do is change the century old pattern of several conferences having power and winning titles to just the two. Greed will win out and an implosion occurs, but hopefully, within 10 years we have the balanced super league.

From 2006-2022 the SEC was unquestionably the best conference. They won all but four national championships. Now, I still think they are the best, deepest conference. However, They have the built in advantage everyone has said about ESPeNis ranking their teams too high. Pettit knows that it’s a tough road if it’s a 5+11 at large. And the SEC only plays 8 conference games so their teams have one less loss. It’s impossible to create an absolutely fair system given all the differences in the conferences.
