Looking back, Should Dabo have...

set an example about the use of racial slurs and done the following:
1) Kicked DJ Greenlee off the team for using the word; and
2) Fired Danny Pearman for his use of the word.
Would that have been the appropriate way to handle it in hindsight?

Ummmm no. Not close. People say and do stupid things everyday. Before it warranted all that, in house discipline is more than reasonable. Dabo handled it fine. Some people just love to destroy people no natter what the reason.

I agree with you, but unfortunately, I think Pearman is going to have to step down. He made a mistake that in this climate, can not be made. If he stays, it will be a PR nightmare. We all know he isn't a racist, but he should have said don't use that word instead of using the actual word. Do I think he deserves to go? No. But I think that's what is going to happen.

Firing him would be rediculous. Thats not gonna happen. I knew a guy once who used that word in the 8th grade, maybe we should track him down and ruin his carreer.
This has already been handled. Its over. What about all the good and love these coaches bring to these kids everyday, of all different races. 1 mistake with good intentions doesnt erase all that. Thats silly.

I disagree. He did nothing wrong other than repeat a negative word as a means to combat it’s use. Lesson learned by all. This is a four year old event that just because someone misrepresented in a sensitive times doesn’t make it relevant. It was handled appropriately.

IMO, that would be an over-reaction

With all the facts of the story, he handled it just right. He got the circumstances and then had a meeting with Pearman about the incident. Pearman apologized to the tight ends room and it seemed to have been let go at that point.
Apparently every incident that could be handled with an internal punishment now has to be vetted through the public.

Nope, but he should have anticipated that onside kick at the NC 2015

If you've ever been near a group of pro or college athletes during a game, they use "that word" constantly. I watched an entire Falcons vs Panthers game from the sideline just in December and that word was used constantly by multiple players. This blowing up of it when the freaking group of people uses it in their music is a joke.
