I''m pulling for global warming.

The temps are going to rise back into the 50 degree area. I'm not political a bit but I'm glad that global freeze is about over.
By the end of Spring I'm transferring back to the global cooling team.

when it was single digit temps and a negative wind chill. Was thinking we needed some kind of warming. Felt sorry for the northerners with negative temps and power and other issues; prayed for their safety.

Hotter hots, colder colds, drier dries and wetter wets. That’s what the scientists said 20 years ago. We argued about it in my flight department for a year and then agreed to disagree.
Since then I’ve seen Lake Austin be 47 feet low and then fill to capacity in one month, along with with every other reservoir in Texas. I’ve seen Houston under 15 feet of water. I’ve seen the coldest temperatures in recorded history in Texas. I’ve seen the highest temperature I’ve ever seen at 38,000 feet (ISA +21), so high we couldn’t stay there, had to descend. A maneuver I’ve had to perform exactly one time in a 30 year career. And at present the western United States is in the worst drought since humans have lived in the Americas. I don’t know what is correct. I do know that I’ve witnessed more extreme weather in the last 10 years, by a very wide margin, than in the 20 years that preceded it. Small sample size? Sure. Anecdotal? Yep. But isn’t it interesting that it all falls where the scientists said it would fall 20 years ago? More extreme. Forgot to mention the December tornado’s. Cuz that’s normal, right?

I remember hearing it 30 years ago. I’ve seen it firsthand, I’m an outdoorsman and spend a lot of time at the coast. Crabs are moving further and further inland. Tropical bird species never before seen in South Carolina are showing up. Tides are much higher, showing up in peoples backyards really never reached before Except during a major storm. Migration patterns of fish are starting to change, which could spell big trouble for us in the future.. It goes on and on. Just because it doesn’t affect you personally doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Most of the naysayers are politicians funded by big oil, And their supporters just parrot everything these bought off people say. It’s so sad to see

Not necessarily true. Check out John Christy at UofA Huntsville and the Irish Climate Science Forum. The short version: “No cause for alarm y’all.” Hint: CO2 is not the most abundant greenhouse gas in the atmosphere.

20 years ago they said Miami and NY would be under water by 2025. Not happening.
Glaciers have been receeding for over 1000 years. Nothing new here.
Ocean levels have not gone up or down measurably in over 100 years.
Non of the predictions have come true.

Friend, I've no idea how old you may be, but when I was in elementary school were we headed towards a new ice age and oil was running out. when I was in college the ozone and Amazonian forest were being diminished with such recklessness and speed that had both would be completely gone within a decade (its been a good bit more than a decade).
when I entered grad school we found we were beset by global warming, London would never see another white Christmas, ocean rise was going to be rapid and significant leading to great loss of property and displacement of multitudes. We were also going to see ourselves unable to feed ourselves solely because the warming climate would make life on earth simply not possible for its population ( forgot to add that when in elementary school we were all going to go hungry because there were too many people on earth and the earth was insufficient to support farming necessary to feed everyone).
Bow it's climate change, wild fluctuations on temperature brought about by...I forget.
Each decade offers a new catastrophe caused by stupid and heartless people which can only be fixed by those who care more - and more government expansion. Because of this history please forgive us, to whom have been preached "the science" for decades, when we act like those of you who wish to carry the banner for another catastrophe in the making are Chicken Littles

They are LITERALLY building a 70 story, $1 BILLION condo tower in Miami right now (The OKan) with two more planned both over 1000 feet tall. The Waldorf Astoria Residences will be the tallest residential tower South of NYC. I am sure the bankers and developers are all well aware of "global warming" and "extreme weather", yet these projects roll on. I wonder why? LOL.

Climate change happens…
Dec 25, 2022, 4:44 PM
|
|
…our planet gets all of its energy from the sun which is does NOT have constant output. Also the tilt of our earth is constantly changing between a few degrees, but this has an effect on how much energy is intercepted by the earth. All of this affects our weather.
What does NOT affect our climate is my Ford Explorer, or any of the other man made activities. The government picking directions about energy is only about money and control. They are evil and you sheep should not give in to them, because one day it will be too late.
Did you hear about the performance of EVs in the cold these few days? They didn’t work. Imagine if you needed an EV truck to deliver food, but it couldn’t because it was below 20 degrees. Not only that, but the power grid was stressed to the point of rolling blackouts. Imagine adding all of our transportation system to this already underpowered system. This is a bleak outlook for America if you keep allowing democrats to push an all electric future in the name of climate change.

Explain? Agreeing with the data makes you a useful idiot?
The main reason people don't think global warming is happening is because there is a vested interest in burning fossil fuels. Those industries pay politicians and media outlets. You can infer the rest from there. THAT is idiotic, not scientists making a claim.

There is an easily verifiable trail of laughably incorrect "climate change" predictions made by grant-seeking "experts" (hello UN!) and the politicians that grant them over the last 20 years. The data used to support the latest claims is cherry-picked and disingenuous, amplified by media that is politically aligned with these same predictors. "Scientists" thinking they've somehow grasped the literally billions of environmental variables in their data models is the height of arrogance. But arrogance is like oxygen to many self-described "experts" and "progressives". Power-seeking politicians and their bureaucratic lackeys are a far greater threat to you future than "climate change" supposedly brought on by "big oil".

Before humans there was an Ice age, a Jurassic greenhouse era, a few hundred years ago a mini ice age and we are just now coming out of that. To even suggest not eating cow meat and driving an electric scooter is the answer to stop earths natural progression is beyond silly and bordering on narcissism. We need to be planning on how to adapt to the change the best we can if we care about surviving this.

Um... that's exactly what the people who want fossil fuels phased out are doing.
Why just adapt if we can literally prevent something?
> answer to stop earths natural progression
That's not what's happening, though. We are trying to stop a very specific man-made thing. Too much CO2 in the atmosphere. I'm not aware of anyone saying we can prevent ice-age level climate change.

Just pointing out that anyone, even scientists, and even enough scientists to be considered a consensus, can still be wrong. It has happened in the past. It can happen now. It will probably happen in the future. The best that science can do is make an educated guess using the information that is currently available. As more information becomes available, their educated guesses, and even a consensus, can be found to be wrong. To not consider that possibility is incredibly closed minded.

My problem is with examples like you gave. You don't seem to agree with the current best evidence. You are hanging on to a wrong conclusion from decades ago and seem to think that invalidates the current best data.

Climate != Weather.
This isn't that difficult. It's really not. The global average temperature has been steadily increasing and is directly correlated with the amount of CO2 we are pumping into the atmosphere. That's it.
Yes, it's only a few degrees and yes that doesn't make a big difference locally. However, when the average goes up, that means that there are more extremes in local areas. That means more instances of severe weather, drought, and natural disasters.
Saying there is "no such thing as climate change" means that you are either willfully ignorant or worse, actively lying about it.
It is 100% ok to disagree with the policies that some want enacted, but why be ignorant of the fact of climate change? That makes no sense.
