Living in Clemson

I'm moving to Clemson for a year and half starting this summer. I'm 28 and like to go out to bars and all that jazz... Currently live in Lexington, Kentucky. Any advice on places to live in Clemson? And will I be the only 28sh year old in town??

Well it really depends on what you're looking for. A lot of the places to live are geared around younger (and poorer) college students. Obviously that includes a lot of apartments that can get loud due to parties and the regular college student stuff. But if you're a little older and want a nicer place there's some nice condos near and around downtown that I'm sure you can either buy or rent. I haven't been inside these but they look pretty new and pretty nice and that way you can be right near all the bars, restaurants, etc.
Also there's a lot of stuff in the outlying are that's pretty cool. Anderson is about 15-20 minutes away if you don't mind a commute. It's a little larger than Clemson and has a few more options on things to do. Greenville is also pretty cool but it's a little ways away. But anyways I hope I helped and I'm sure you'll enjoy living in Tiger Town.

Try Moe Joe on Hwy 93. It is a Local Coffee House that has cool Music and a great Beer Selection on weekends. It tends to be a little older and a relaxing place.

There's alot of cool places to go but it is definitely a college town. Nick's is really relaxed and not over run by the college crowd and has a great beer selection. Sloan Street Tavern is a little different but the college kids don't venture there much. Then of course Triple T's is great, but full of students while school is in. Other than those three the 28 and over crowd will have a tough time getting along unless you still like the younger life.
As far as living goes that's close to downtown, Chadsworth Commons is really nice, quiet, and is close to everything. It has some students in it but also some residents. I currently live there and I love it. Another good place to look is Torrey Point. Its right next to a college apartment complex but its gated and is right on the lake.

Not necessarily looking for quiet. I basically live on University of Kentucky campus now and have a hell of a time. But Lexington has more young professionals from what I understand. Sounds like Clemson will be just fine. I like to be able to walk to bars and restaurants so I'll probably check out the Chadsworth Commons area which was recommended. Thanks for the advice and I'm lookin forward to it...

and have since 2005. It's mostly older students (grad students) and some residents. It's pretty quiet (if that matters) and reasonably priced. They're all 2 bedroom townhouses if you don't mind climbing steps. It's on the CAT bus line but also isn't far from campus by car.

After looking at some of the pricing in the area, it doesn't seem like much is out of my budget. Looking to spend around $750 to $1000. So if theres some cool places around Lake Hartwell I'll def have to check it out. Thanks

I lived in Clemson after I graduated and worked with Duke Power at Oconee Nuclear Station. There is an entire different group of people to meet of young professionals. I lived in Clemson and on the Lake. It was some of the best years I've had. I left for another career and have missed Tiger Town ever since. The Esso Club is also a place to go. Enjoy

Nice. What apartments on the Lake? I'm gonna head down there in a couple weeks and want to get some Apartment walkthru's set up... Thanks again for the input. It's been hard to find any info on the city til now.

Clemson unless you are dedicated to small town college life. It will be somewhat restricted compared to Lexington, Ky.
Fall weekends are lively when football is in town and on certain other weekends entirely dependent on the number of students who go home for the weekend...often quite a few.
During the spring\summer, it is very quiet with a small group of dedicated bar groupies for each bar...there are about 5.
Greenville...about 45 minutes away is comparable to Lexington and is loaded for 28 year olds with varied and different bars\nightlife.
