Lack of O Line depth....

So we're down 4 O Linemen to injury, of which 2 are starters.
We literally have no backups left. We have 8 playable O Linemen out of 15....
Matt Luke was brought in to clean up the mess Austin left behind...no doubt about that. But if we're going to play to "best is the standard" , we need a lot more numbers in this cycle. A lot. The only way I see this getting any better is to use the portal.

Bluff on the current 85 man scholarship deal how many OL are you going to recruit? And if they are any good are they going to sit on the bench and wait their turn.
How about stick to posting about the laws. You are inept on most everything else. Go pull for a coach that you like. I don’t care where you went to school but you are a poser when it comes to being a fan of Clemson.

But since you asked, Dabo tried to get a least 3 O Line transfers in the off season and whiffed. That at least partially answers your question. So, are you going to tell me that we couldn't use 3 more experienced O Linemen right now?
Then you went to a false dilemma. I pull for Clemson. I want the Tigers to win every game. Pulling for the Dabo cult isn't pulling for Clemson. I have choices other than the 2 extremes you posed. Ergo, logical fallacy on your part.

He tried. Weakly. He has a well deserved reputation for not liking the portal. In fact, he brags about it.
To potential transfers, that equates to him disliking portal athletes. Add that to Dabo refusing to use up front NIL to get transfers, and of course he whiffed.
Zero of those guys are at Clemson.
That doesn't help our OL issues at all.

No. You’re wrong. Casualties are a part of the game. Everyone deals. Everyone suffers.
The issue is can you survive them until your walking wounded are able to play.
Looks like that will be the case for the final Saturday in November. Of course, USC’s pretty healthy and playing well. On balance, they might be the better team that day. Can T Net live with that or will the Board implode?

Good morning guys. I’m a first time poster so I won’t claim to know all that y’all know. I do know this from coaching experience. Offensive lineman take the longest to develop at all levels. Sure, you have your outliers, but the majority require time to get stronger, adjust to the speed of the game, etc. Many can’t be counted on to provide depth their Freshman or even their sophomore seasons. Just my humble observation. Thanks for allowing me on board 😎

Correct ..... if I remember correctly during Nebraska's glory years most linemen did not start until their redshirt junior year.

Correct, the ncaa didn't allow freshmen to play FB or MBB until 1972. Before that schools had JV teams. Also, after the tragic plane crash that killed 75, the NCAA granted Marshall permission to use freshmen on the varsity FB squad in 1971. Nearly the entire team and coaching staff perished.
The nfl mandates that you must be out of high school for at least three years before you are eligible to play. So the nfl needs the FREE minor league.

RB, DE and LB are probably the worst areas, but our secondary is also razor thin on guys that are actually playable and not massive liabilities, and OL is now a big problem as you say. Most OLs are going to have issues with 3 guys out though - especially when two are your only two LTs.

we have been redshirting. He'll get a ton of time this Sat. So will our redshirt DE, DT, and LB. Leigh and Tate should play a little and be full go for USuC. Hopefully Capehart as well.
We made it by the game we needed to Sat and preserved every redshirt

Do you think that coaches like Dabo and Mack Brown are lying when they report that many schools tamper with other teams’ players before those other teams’ players announce their intention to hit the portal?
(Let me know if the term “tampering” is not familiar to you as far as the Portal is concerned.)
Are you aware that tampering is a practice that runs counter to NCAA’s (toothless) rules?

Had some bad luck this season with injuries. 4 and 5 star OL are not coming to sit. Times are different.

We carry the same amount of OL on scholarship as most D1 schools. Maybe development was an issue before Matt Luke got here but the amount we carry is on par with everyone else. The offensive line has improved dramatically in the short time Luke has been here give it time and the depth will too. Nothing happens over night…
