Just watched my car odometer turn over 200,000 miles

never had that happen in my life. Been waiting on a new car to arrive at a dealer after 4 months - was told that it was supposed to arrive in April and keep getting texts saying it will be one month later each time. About ready to ask if they really had a car on the way when i asked back in March.

I work at a dealership and tried to order a new truck in July of 2022. Was finally able to actually get the order in in April of 2023. I took delivery in December.

They wouldn't accept the order until the assembly line was using the motor I wanted, the color I wanted and the level I wanted. Apparently, they run the assembly line with one style, color and motor at a time.

I purchased a Ford Maverick Lariat in January. I literally just received the notice today that the order has been "received" and it will be in production within "45 days"......absolutely insane.

Gettig ready to head out on our annual Sturgis trip. 2003 Ford Excursion with 376,000 on the clock and has never had the motor opened and feel confident in it. 7.3L International, 15qts of oil on a change and the fuel tank is 44gal. Replaced the trans 3 years ago. Most of these miles are pulling a 22' trailer with 4 baggers on board. A/C still blows cold!!!!

That’s because those 7.3’s are some of the best motors ever built. I had a 01 f350 with a 7.3 in it and a coworker still drives it with over 300k miles and she’s still getting around good. I miss that truck.

As a younger guy I had a Ford Ranger that was at 193K when harmonic balance went out, along with brakes...but that truck was fun to drive. No power with the A/C on but it blew cold air all the way to the end and that was nearly 20 years. Miss that truck and the roll down windows!!

My current Ram truck I have had for 9 years almost, a 2012 model, has 225K miles and has been a great truck. I will drive it until it it no longer makes sense but I love it nearly as much as my Ranger.

We have a 2006 Nissan Titan 4 x 4 with 289,000+ miles. I don't think she would get rid of it. Still running strong and AC is cold. Nothing really but basic maintenance and a battery in the last 6 years. Before that, the rear end was rebuilt around 2016.

I drive a 98 F150. It’s a few hundred miles away from 199k. My old man bought a brand new 09 Hyundai Sonata and it’s still going strong at 353k. My mother bought a brand new 98 Toyota Corolla and drove it until 2012. It had 348k. She then got an 05 Camry that had 58k. It currently has around 330k.

I have 2 cars over 200,000, both 2000 models. The higher mileage one has 260,000. I get attached to my machines. Don’t see any reason to get rid of a working machine.

I had a 13-year old 1995 Toyota Corolla get to 220,000 miles. Best car I ever owned. It was more reliable than my wife and kids. Never had a major problem with it but I traded it in for a Prius before gas prices went up and went from 31 mpg to 50 mpg. I grew up in an era if it's not broke, keep on using it.

Could the reason be that so many regular assembly lines were shut down to make those battery cars nobody wants?

Clover I really don't think at the point that you're at on waiting on a new car that I would have any questions for those dealership guys, but I would have a statement for them and that statement would be, take that car and shove it, bc I won't be buying a new car from you guys now. Then I would introduce myself to another dealer that will be serious about getting me a new vehicle bc the dealership that you're dealing with haven't been to serious about getting you a new vehicle...

I'm like this, if they can't have me what I want setting on their lot in two months, I'm at the wrong dealership without any doubt!!!
