They can’t afford his buyout and the optics of firing your first black coach only 2 years in would be awful.

The problem with that is if he doesn’t get to 9 wins this year, the fan base isn’t going to be happy and the seat is only going to get hotter and unrest will grow louder and louder. Unless he blows it out of the water this year, I think they will really struggle to hold onto this class and recruit future classes because of all the uncertainty.

Taggart doesn't have to win 9 games to survive past this year. He just has to show total control of what's going on and his players have to leave it all on the field. That will demonstrate to everyone there is strong positive momentum.

I say this as someone that wants him to fall on his face (Oregon is my 2nd favorite team after Clemson).
