It's Zelensky's fault. He forces Putin to do bad things. Free Vladimir Putin!

If any country can go without electricity for a week,

it would be Spain. I seem to recall dim lighting in the cafes and hotels in Madrid,, food hanging in the doorways, tapas soaked in vinegar, and best I could tell, bathing was optional.
I guess they can not pump their gas, but then again, they do not commute 30 miles a day or require refrigerated trucks to eat.

I just remember naked people. And learned nude beaches are not anything

like one would hope or expect. For every hottie with a nice tight set of assets, there's 37 old farts with ##### to the belly button and large rear ends with cellulose. Nope. Then you have the schlongs. Not a fan of nude beaches, the reward is not worth the overall price paid.

Europe’s history, culture, and lifestyle is such a vast improvement over our own, even if every home doesn’t have granite countertops and central A/C. Something about the way they live just seems more natural for our species. I’m eager to get back and keep hunting for the village I’m going to retire to after I’m done living the American dream.

it's the sociability and walkability

You can go outside in basically any European city and simply walk around as an activity. There's no need for a plan beyond that.
You will see people from all walks of life interacting. Older people, couples, groups of teens, young professionals, kids, families with kids etc. It's just a community that sits and talk or hang out in the town. It gives everything a sense of being more alive.
Just go with the flow of that and you will find yourself having a nice day or evening.
Unlike in the USA where you often need to drive at least 20 mins past highways to park in a large parking lot to go to an assigned space meant for socialization, often feeling sterile. How often do you stress about going to an activity somewhere because of "where will I park?"
I love the USA of course but there's definitely a more organic feel to life in Europe in many cases.

but even those are car dominated these days. Like I took a drive that took me through downtown Anderson a couple Sundays ago and I saw grand total of maybe 5 people walking around on a very pleasant weather Sunday evening. Felt like a ghost town

Charlotte - I don't own a car. Walked around a good portion of the city drinking and munching. Bunch of people were out during the day.

Dang…the wife and I are kinda looking at Portugal for possible relocation in case things get too ‘Handmaid Tales’ around here. I know that is probably hyperbolic, but never hurts to have a plan. I personally know two colleagues (US Citizens and well-respected engineers) who are in the process of moving their families out of the country. Anyone else seeing this on a personal level?

I wonder if Europe will even allow that anymore though

Many Euros are growing to dislike Americans more and more. They are getting pretty mad at remote-working Americans who move in and take nice apartments (Barcelona is one such city with that as a big problem).
I just wonder if the EU governments will take some action to minimize that possibility for Americans in the coming years especially if our governments continues to be ######## to them.

Will be interesting to see…and really can’t blame them if they do make it tougher for American’s to move.

There have been tensions and conflict for decades. Jealousy after being proven inferior in 2 World Wars and not being able to protect themselves without the Great United States protecting them, the jealously evolved to, as some say, hate.

Europeans have loathed Americans for decades. Anyone pretending this is a recent phenomenon has no clue what they're talking about. And if they don't want us to be ####### to them perhaps they should start defending their own porous borders and stop placing tariffs on our exports instead of whining like the ###### they are when we do to them what they've done to us for many years.
