It’s really easy when it comes to Monte Lees tenure at Clemson

If you are fine with Clemson baseball being a middle tier ACC team, that is competitive in a lot of games but never goes anywhere, then you’re happy with what Monte has done in his time here.
If you look at Clemson as the historical top 15 team that they are and expect them to at a minimum make a regional every season (like they did almost every year for decades before Lee came), and look at the trajectory of his program, it’s easy to see his tenure as a failure. The results on the field don’t lie.
If you are someone who accepts the former rather than the latter you want Lee back and are very content. If you look at the Clemson baseball program in the respect they deserve and have earned, as a top tier team, it’s more than obvious Lee has been a complete failure at Clemson and hasn’t even come close to accomplishing what he was hired to do.

especially if we miss the NCAA. I don’t know that we will keep him even if we won a regional.
Clemson deserves better.

No matter who the coach is I wish the BOT would approve to allow out of state players pay in state tuition. It would help level the playing field in recruiting. It hurt Jack when we had it and I think it hurts Monte. I love signing in state players, but tough to be a top 15 program recruiting that way.

Jack passed on some South Carolina kids

That wanted to come to Clemson, but ended up at South Carolina and helped them win consecutive championships. Jack recruited kids from the north east and the Pacific Northwest instead. Because everyone knows those places are hotbeds of high school baseball! SMH

He’s been gone seven years. It won’t hurt you to let go of this completely untrue narrative. He recruited GA, especially the Atlanta area, more than anywhere else because it actually has the highest concentration of baseball talent anywhere close to Clemson. And the roster had more players from SC than anywhere else with GA second. While he did usually have a player or two from the NE on his roster I can’t think of anyone from the Pacific Northwest.

Actually very precise, well laid out scenario. This year, our resume looks more impressive than it it is. Look at David's article on how many top 50 rpi teams we've beat... You can spin it into a positive but bottom line, it's doubtful this team progresses through a regional. Yet the AD has let the expectations fall so low, that making a regional becomes our panacea to congratulate and proclaim monte's on the verge of something great. And I disagree with Hood, it will be the Brad basketball scenario.

That Lee survived a losing record in year 6, with only 2 years left on his contract, demonstrated quite clearly that any higher standard for baseball has long been abandoned. Despite running off a much better coach and fracturing Clemson’s relationship with the greater baseball fraternity over such a supposed standard just 6 years earlier. Pretty much proves that firing Jack was a petty temper tantrum and not actually about any real standard for our baseball team.

There is no doubt about it , especially if we finish the last few games on a bad note . He should be gone , CML will find a nice job at a mid major and that’s where he belongs.

I agree. Coach Lee’s desire for long ball crooked innings is better suited for a mid-major conference where the pitching is forced to throw the fastball they are looking to crush or breaking ball that hangs at the belt. His teams will see mid-week starters when they play P5 programs. He’ll still recruit the kind of talent he brought to Clemson so he can do well at that level.
