But this puts young men in a tough position, I would say a lose/ lose scenario.
Any player who decides that they do not want to go for political reasons will get killed by the media and certain parts of our fan base. Some players who decide to go may get lashback from their own communities as going may give them impression that they agree with Trump and his policies.

Tom Brady didn't attend because of a family illness. Tom Brady was a supporter of Trump, so I think you may have missed the mark. That said, while I think whoever the POTUS is, you attend. It is about the honor of the office, not the man. Simply put, when the President of these United States extends an invite, you do not refuse.

If they don't want to go that's okay. Freedom of speech swings two ways with the party in power. I may be old fashioned but I respect the office of President of the United States. The Super Bowl champion Patriots went a few weeks ago. I only ask that the players and coaches that go respect President Trump .

I totally agree. I don't think any players will choose not to go to the White House for winning the natty just because Trump is in office. It doesn't show their political views at all they don't have to give a speech they visit the White House prob get a exclusive tour normal people don't get which is awesome no matter who the president is bc the history behind it and all the powerful presidents that have lived their. And they shake his hand and say hey not like they have to like him or agree with his politics. This is what I hate about things are now, ppl are talking about having to make the choice whether to go or not bc it might show have back lash bc ppl will think player supports trump when it used to be an honor just to go and I hope that's how all the clemson players feel as well!!

I did not notice the conservatives leaving the country when President Obama was in office.
I am not liberal, but I am progressive on economic issues and am in favor of a healthy environment. I disagree with President Trump on most issues and I am not leaving. I disagreed with Hillary on most issues as well and would not have left if she had won the election. I would not want to meet her or shake her hand any more than i would like to meet President Trump.

I for one am a fan of all our players and coaches and not a fan of Donald Trump, I will not like any player or coach more or less for going to the White House and having a meet and greet and photo op with President Trump. I will not like them more or less for not going. I encourage each coach and player to express their political or their religious convictions and they would like to.
GO TIGERS!
Screw the media and anyone that would pressure these fine young men to go to the White House or not go.
If they want to go then they should go, if they do not want to go then they should not go. That is what Dabo said and i agree with the sentiment.

They should all go so when they are old and gray they can look their grandkids in the eyes and say I shook the hand of the man who brought our country back to respectability and out of the dark days of Obama. They can say they shook the hand of one of the greatest presidents of all time!!! Someone who believed that America is exceptional and the greatest country of all-time!!!!!!!!!!
