why the two top O lineman in the state are considering SC as highly as us. Why do we have such a time in getting these top O lineman. We always seem to be behind Georgia Alabama Ohio State Michigan and a few other in having that too notch O line. We may need an O lineman coach line Sam Pittman or someone like him. I know he is now a head coach.

What I’ve gleaned from ESPN is, only the SEC and select

blue bloods like Ohio State and USC play real football. Only in the SEC do they wear big boy pants and play big boy football. The only reason a recruit would consider Clemson is because they are scared to face SEC speed and SEC size every week in the gauntlet that is SEC football.
Ironically, Florida State and Miami are exempt from the ACC ridicule because hopefully “They Are Back Baby!” Oh yeah, and Texas. But they are about to instantly acquire SEC size and SEC speed soon anyway, and add a few historical National Championships onto their stadium that they had somehow forgotten to claim until joining the SEC.

It is easy to understand in South Carolina. You grow us as a Tiger, or as a Gamecock, so it has nothing to do with today but your entire life. Thanks to the good Lord that I had great parents, great fun growing up in the 50's and 60's and being a Tiger.

I can understand why Georgia is getting these top lineman but USCjr. Except for on an occasional basis they are an embarrassment in football. Why would a top notch lineman want to spend their time there even if growing up a fan?

I can't understand it either. I've been to places like Athens, Clemson, Knoxville, and Auburn. I can't imagine why any kid, or his parents, with the option of attending school at any of those places would choose Columbia. No football history and the place is a dump.

Maybe they like what coach Beamer is selling and they think they can be part of the first to actually win something there….? Couldn’t stop laughing the entire time I wrote this but probably true over there.

We don't exactly send a lot of O-linemen to the NFL

Coots actually have more of them playing in the NFL right now than we do. Also they may have been born and raised in Coot families, or want to play in the SEC, or prefer a more urban campus.

Ok, I was thinking we had 3 because Tremayne Anchrum isn't listed on this ESPN page:
http://www.espn.com/nfl/college/_/letter/c![]() From Abiliene Christian to Wyoming, find out where every active NFL pro football player spent his college days.
Either way, the Coots also have 4.

Our O-line has long had a reputation as finesse, as opposed to some of the road graders at the schools that you mentioned. How many schools have put way more linemen in the NFL than us ??
Why would a top O-lineman sign on here rather than, Bama, Georgia, OSU, etc.

I think a lot of these guys buy into the conference as much or more as they do the school. Guys know the SEC has tremendous visibility and they want to play against the best and the coaches hype the differences between the ACC and SEC to their advantage.

I don't know a lot about the OL coach at SC but after googling him, his experience is not very impressive.

Precisely how much do you think you know about OL coaching and OL coaches? I’d be willing to bet the answer to both is virtually zero. Which puts you only slightly behind the average user of this board that expresses an opinion about our OL and the coaches.

think they have a better chance of being noticed by the NFL if they played their college ball in the SEC. And, at least on paper, South Carolina is in the SEC. They pretty much lucked into it at a time when the SEC was looking to expand, and they were the closest geographical independent who somewhat fit the bill.

Not sure about SC but we do not have the greatest history of sending OL to the NFL.
