Fortunate to have many varieties in a woodsy neighborhood to check out. They've been going downtown on the feeders the past few days and it shows. They know it's coming.

Noticed this last year during the big Christmas chill. I carry a little extra heft myself during winter so I guess I can relate.

That was how my grandmother would predict the weather and she was FAR MORE ACCURATE than the current weatherman.

I haven't seen any Robins around for months, but earlier this week a small flock swooped in, and they were some of the fattest birds I've ever seen; almost odd looking.
