That trolling motor shaft looks long. Is that a 12v or 24v with a L-Ion batt? Either way I bet it scoots. Those guys in Cali and HI catch some absurd fish off those kayaks.

It just looks long because the motor is not below the waterline of the Kayak...

it is pushed up ...I cut a 55 Lb. Minn Kota in half and put the throttle up by my seat. It has infinite speed control, so I can adjust it to match the current in the river...I use my foot pedals to steer...If my truck were here I would BE GONE TOMORROW!!

I wondered if that was some homegrown ingenuity. Good work! You will enjoy shortly, just got to get rid of these triple digits. Had 103⁰ on my truck couple times today.

friend and a handyman by trade.THERE IS NOTHING HE CANNOT FIX. The idiot was coming home from fishing in the moats at Clemson in a kevlar canoe, and a lady pulled up beside him blowing her horn and waving at him. He was coming down 123 back to Easley...He waved her off, and she did it again so he rolled down his window and she yelled," your boatsonfire!", and my buddy who cannot hear thunder, said,"OK" and waved her off again...she pulls back up, blows long on the horn and yells louder,"I sayuhd! YOUR...BOAT'S on FIIIIIIEEEEER!"....Partner,his canoe had slid partially out of the bed of his truck and was indeed burning!! Burned a big one foot hole in the bow....Well, Tater Tater, patched that sucker up with some wire mesh and some compound he manufactured and we fished out of it for years...until we took it to the Broad River in Ashville one day, and in a heck of a hurry to get there...well, we had to make a stop and he backed in to a parking spot right beside Auto Zone (I needed a battery for my son's car I was unsing) and Tater Tater, with me yelling "STOP...STAHHHHHHP!!",slammed that back end of that canoe right into the side of the building!! I kid you not...Bent the aluminum framing all to .....Anyway, we got to the river...stretched that sucker out like it was an accordion and went fising.....

Well it sounds like Tater Tater kind of forced himself into learning how t fix everything. Otherwise he woukd have missed many days of fishing.

I have my foot on the gas ready to pull up if he comes in too fast.....Partner...this is a guy that has been STRUCK BY LIGHTNING......TWICE!!! You have to know who and what you are dealing with when you go with him...
By the way , my kayak will run about 5 MPH with the new motor. The old one was a 45 lb. thrust. I am definitely ready to hit the river....IN all honesty, if the water didn't get cold, I would sell my bass boat and just fish the river.....I love current....No electronics...just go read the water for the day and figure it out.....

Now if you can just find a waterway that flows vertically, you’re all set. 😎. Maybe Niagara Falls?

I think in SC you have to register a kayak if you put a trolling motor on it.

Be careful, I wanted to add a small motor to a 12' sailboat. I was told

it would have to be registered with a title search. I bought it with cash from Craigs List.
I'm not sure about trolling motors.
