I dont recall seeing that, thanks for posting it!
While legally he was cleared, personally I think its shady & weird AF that the HBC of Vandy contacted the rape victims. I can't possibly wrap my head around why he thought that would be a good idea.

We can probably agree he was guilty of poor judgment. I’m guessing with the intent of trying to do some damage control.

Purely from this article, I don’t see how you can assign blame to anyone other than the two athletes who committed the crimes. If more comes out that there was some kind of cover up, then I would certainly feel differently.

I believe he is a scumbag but also think your assessment is correct. The players were dismissed from the team and the legal process is ongoing. At this point, what comment could he make which would be relevant? Seems the media is simply stirring the spot. I guess he could have reiterated the players are no longer on the team and trusts justice will be served.

I’m also guessing he was told by university legal not to comment. Given their past history, that would make sense.

Penn State is (or should be) held to a different standard

Given that Penn State is arguably the most infamous CFB team of all time as far as institutionally enabled rape, I’m saying that Penn State needs to be held to a higher level of scrutiny, and consequently a higher standard for openness and honesty with regard to new sexual abuse (especially r_ _e) allegations.
It’s not like Penn State is a first time offender with regard to heinous crimes …

I'm all for that. I'm just saying let's not trash someone's character without any proof to support it. What happened at Penn State was on Paterno's watch, not Franklin's.
And anyone involved in that from Paterno, the President, the BOD, etc. are long gone...

The Penn ST Pedos will always be scum to me. I know what happened is in the past but that’s not something that can just be looked over.

"A coach" was found guilty of touching. But I'm not letting the staff as a whole off because they knew about it and said nothing...

I don't really care for Franklin, at all, but both players were kicked-off the team and are no longer students at Penn State. I don't know from a football aspect what else he was supposed to do. Let the court take care of it.
Why didn't the news media make a bigger deal out of it?
