Hosted their fan day in Death Valley today until I saw it online. Pretty funny considering that they are so anti drafting Clemson players.

Hope they took their loser team karma back to Chlt. DV don't want any part of that.

disrespected the founder, the original owner, the juggernaut of expansion...Mr. Jerry Richardson. The conflict was centered around the payment for the female's services rendered. Mr Jerry did not want to pay full price $5.00, Mr Jerry a man of principle demanded 50 cents in change citing her poor technique. She refused and cussed Jerry like a dog. And right then and there Mr. Jerry vowed the Carolina Panthers would never ever select a Clemson player again, after the center they selected from the expansion draft. Then Mr. Jerry backhanded the working gal, crushing the bridge of her nose and knocking 2 of her teeth out. And that is root, origin, the true source of the 30 year Panthers embargo on Clemson draft selections...(when the hedge fund film-flam man purchased the franchise, Mr Jerry had the Clemson clause grandfathered into the transaction)

I honestly have never heard that story. Seems odd to not draft a Clemson player simply due to a business owner not having proper change. Makes you wonder if things would had been different if she had just offered to let him swipe his credit card and produced a receipt. Of course, when he passed by legitimate businesses like Tiger Tales just to save 50 cents, hard to feel bad for him. Poor decisions like this , I now understand why the fine people of CLT cancelled him by removing his statue and I’m now glad he boycotted Clemson

there is no intentional ban on Clemson draft selections by the franchise. The belief is paranoia based and pure lunacy, imo.

Jerry didn’t make his money in hedge funds. He built his empire by playing two seasons in the NFL and parlayed that money to start Hardee’s. He then founded Spartan Foods which included many national chains still operating today. He sold everything he owned to start the Panthers.
I knew Jerry personally and never saw any evidence he would have behaved in such a way. In fact, he regretted paying the woman for her silence. He didn’t know what to do and just wanted the situation to go away. He wishes he had fought and cleared his name.
The Jerry I knew was a family man. He took care of people around him. One of my best friends was a young employee of Jerry’s and his wife got pregnant. This man hadn’t been employed long enough to be fully vested with health insurance. Jerry paid for the birth of my friends son out of his pocket. He never asked for anything in return. This friend worked for Jerry for thirty years.
Was he capable of such a thing? I don’t think so. But, one thing I have learned is that people are capable of terrible things. We never know what someone is capable of until something happens. We will never know the truth because it never played out in public. There were no witnesses, no charges, or no investigations into the woman’s claims. There was no history of this behavior in his lifetime.
Believe what you want. I believe this woman wanted money. Only God, Jerry, and this woman know what truly happened.
I couldn’t be a Panthers fan because my heart already belongs to the Falcons. I’m not a bandstand fan. I’m loyal to a fault.

I was OBVIOUSLY referring to the current owner David Tepper..why the EPH would Jerry need to grandfather a clause to himself(rhetorical). BTW, I hold two sworn affidavits signed by both Jerry and Mark attesting to the account I posted above, hth—

From the looks of the thin crowd was it even worth the effort Clemson probably had to put in it? I saw Dabo on TV out there talking some of the owners entourage ears off. Did they use Clemson's locker room or the Visitors? I sure hope they didn't use ours. One former coot even smarted off on TV he wore his Coot garnet Shirt to the stadium. We don't need those losers anywhere near our facilities.

WBTV chlt interviewed Clowney who said he was confortable coming to DV cause he knew what happened the last time there. Don't know if he was the one wearing the shirt.

I guess you are so young you missed the Panthers first season at Clemson. History is great but it takes work.

I had season tickets, drove from Charlotte and saw every game in Death Valley.
The history is in 30 years after hundreds of draft picks, not one Tiger chosen.

And very little team success. They're likely several very good draft picks away from a break even season.

I don't see the big picture. That rich flim-flamer, Tepper, brought his pack of losers to the Valley, charging an admission for their fans. I called IPTAY today and for the 3RD YEAR in a row.. NO FAN APPRECIATION DAY for Clemson - a SLAP in the face for all fans. We would go every year: packed stadium, free posters, magnetic schedules and other give aways. The kids loved it and the players were all smiles. The Athletic Dept no longer has the magnets and posters. Who is running the Marketing Dept? I'm a 54 year IPTAY member and not happy with this situation. I'll be contacting the AD shortly.
