Based on your question, I will assume you are a casual fan. In short, there is no data to support the idea that an external hire is better than an internal hire. For example, CBV was a great external hire but so was Jeff Scott and and Tony Elliott. The right hire is the only answer and they come from internal and external

So two good internal hires vs like 50 bad ones.
Basically everyone he’s hired from outside has been a great hire. Almost none of the promotions or nepo hires have made a real impact

Remember when our coaches would visit other teams to study their offense/defensive schemes?
Chad Morris visited Nevada to learn more about the pistol formation and Venables visited Iowa State to learn about the 3-3-5 / 3-5-3. I always thought that was a good idea… but I’m not sure that we do that anymore. At least I don’t remember reading about it.

Take that logic right outta here. If he’s not in Dabo’s family tree, or at least his cousin’s neighbor’s gardener who played for Dabo’s pee wee camp he’s not cut out for our coaching staff. Someone from outside might have the audacity to occasionally say the word “no”!

Those two had zero say in 'their' coaches. Hiring two division managers to come in and make a 'big' change without looking at the middle and first line management????? Fail!

I haven’t read any accounts of that. Also I honestly don’t recall; how many coaches did Brent Venables and Chad Morris bring with them when they were hired?

I think consultants come to us...the run away like Terry Bowden. We don't have the money in NIL and if we coach up a 2 start to a 4 star they head to the portal. They physically mature to a 4 star but coaches stay at the 2 star intellectual level. So 4 stars play like 2 stars. Have we been playing like 2 stars?? Do the players have the ability to be 4 starts-absolutely! It's a mess!

You mean coaches like Luke, Allen, Riley, Rumph, Mikey Conn, Mike Reed, and Kyle Richardson? Most of our top coaches including Dabo do not come from a Clemson background.
On offense of the top tier coaches only Grisham and Spiller are what we might call insiders.
Riley, Luke, and Richardson are outsiders.
Remember when Riley was hired we were all happy...almost every team in the country would have given their left nut to get him. We were delighted because he was a qualified OUTSIDER!
On defense the top coaches are a bit more nepotistic.
four are former Clemson Players to 3 that are not. Only a couple months ago Tnetters were lining up for the chance to pat Boulware's back as a great decision. The hire of experienced Rumph was praised in dozens of Tnet posts as being just what we needed.
The head of the defense is a complete outsider just as the head of the offense is. We were all delighted when he was hired because he was an EXPERIENCED outsider with a great record of winning defenses..
Yes I think there are about a dozen people wioth connections to Clemson Admin, Swinney, and Allen that should be let go merely for appearance sake. Most of them however are not coaches. Swinneys kids ought to go and Clements'kid should not be anywhere near recruiting.

from outside of Dabo's family, friends and former players benefits Dabo or said family, friends and former players. Just how exactly would Dabo be able to improve the lives of his family, friends and former players with other people's money if he hired coaches from outside of the family tree?
