How many knew the Clemson soccer program was discontinued after the 39 season

From 1940 to 1966 (26 years), Clemson did not have a soccer team.
In 1967, the university decided to re-add soccer as a varsity sport.
Dr. I. M. Ibrahim, who was a chemistry professor at the time, was chosen to lead the program.
Now you know the rest of the story.

The nucleus of the program back then?
Despite my nerdy joke I bet college sports were quite a bit more fun and innocent at that time though there were those who took them to the extreme doing questionable things. The fact that a chemistry professor started the program back just screams what college sports were supposed to be about. Don’t get me wrong I’m still entertained and things are faster paced more exciting etc but that is just fun. Thanks for the fact.

I had PAa in '85. I don't think it really mattered who the prof was; the tests were all the same, right?

I think she was harder, maybe it was that 102 was harder than 101.

I had Knox Landers as a freshman for CHEM 101. 8 am. 100 or so students in the class. Assigned seats. No missing class or being late or exam would be cumulative. Did roll by missing seats on seating chart. Called on students during lecture by name on seating chart.
During my senior year I was cutting through Brackett and walked past his office. He couldn't have seen me for more than a second and hollered out "Mr. CharlestowneTiger! What have you been doing with yourself?"
Blew my mind than he remembered me by name almost four years later.

I never had Knox Landers as a professor, but I had a lab that was at 3:00 pm on Friday afternoon and that was the only class I had on Friday that semester. Knox was head of the department, so I went and talked to him to see if I could get put into another lab. I told him I was working on the weekends at a golf course back home and if I could get into another lab, I could go home on Thursday and have an extra day to work on the golf course. He moved some poor dude from the Wednesday lab to Friday and put me in the Wednesday lab. I did go home and work some Fridays, but mostly I got to stay out later on Thursdays in Clemson.

wow I haven't heard those names in years!
The year was 1984.
I still have a memory of sitting in Ma Bishop's office with drop paperwork in hand right before the final cutoff day. She convinced me that my grades were actually in the upper percentage of the class, and with a little help on some minor fundamentals of chemistry, I should not only pass her class, but would do quite well.....
The only class I failed at Clemson.

When I dropped his Organic class. I didn't swallow the hook!
I did pass her class!
I used to wonder what dinner topics were like between those two...it helped me fall asleep...quickly!

In my major we got to choose between organic and bio chemistry. I had heard too many horror stories about Organic, I went with Bio. I know I made the right choice. I did well in Bio after failing Chem 102. I was extremely happy to take my last Chemistry class at Clemson!

Dr. Ibraham was the coach of the team soccer players mostly made up of foreign students prior to 1967. He had to convince the Athletic Director Frank Howard to add another sport at Clemson. Frank was reluctant to add another sport that football would pay their expenses since he didn't see they would draw a crowd or bring in money to the department.

Correct and the man was a force of nature. Coaching guys hard doesnt even begin to touch the surface of him. Very successful and very driven to get Coach Howard to fund a team back then.

Common knowledge to TNET veterans. I had no clue but find it interesting that lil ole Clemson just keeps winning championships.
