Is NIL fueling ticket prices?

After Clemsons dominant run of success infound myself paying more and more for game tickets during the uninspiring DJU years. And now it's becoming so unaffordable for me to take my family of 5 to a game. Between travel/lodging/food expenses add in the ticket cost and there's just not enough value there anymore. (Tears me up just saying that)
Now that we are seeing NIL deals skyrocket, head coaching salaries astronomical, and concessions exploding, how long until these costs are passed onto the public in the form of ticket price increases. I am already priced out of NFL games at nearly 250 a pop for the cheapest seats in most stadiums.
I guess the view is just as good from my couch, but I really sympathize for my kids who love the experience and atmosphere of being in the valley.

I doubt NIL has anything to do with it yet

That expense won't pass directly through the AD to boosters and ticket purchasers until players become salaried through the school.
What you're paying for right now is hundred million dollar facilities, tens of millions in coaching salaries, etc.

They have a plan in place for if/when revenue sharing

goes into effect. It does involve raising the price of tickets, but none of that has happened yet. That's all just going to raise prices even more. Unless of course the cost gets too high for consumers to bear at which point they may have to make some spending cuts somewhere (I would bet on it coming out of facility spending and possibly even coaching salaries before it comes out of the players cut).

The costs of attending football games are crazy and are only going up until fans say enough.

Well I’m paying for tv and tickets and parking. It’s a big deal for myself to get the kind of money you need for a season.
I remember heading down to the NC State game by myself, kind of last minute deal, and gave a guy $15 dollars for a south side lower ticket. Those days are long gone.
Bad thing is if the fans revolt and do not attend then it looks like the fan base does not support football. Bad look for tv and the recruits visiting for the weekend.

It's already extremely expensive and should only get worse.

To date all NIL payments have come from entities not directly tied to the university; so, it had no impact on the school's operating income.
Now after the house settlement which allows schools to directly pay players it will impact future costs for fans.

Furman games don’t cost much.
And Anderson is even less.

There could be an indirect affect on ticket prices if boosters reduce IPTAY donations to offset contributions to the NIL collective. The reduced IPTAY funds would have to come from somewhere with ticket prices the likely source.
Not saying that will happen, but possible.

Hopefully those that contribute knows what they are contributing to. Iptay or the collective.

Clemson alum here. Totally agree. I’ve been to many games and bowl games in my 77 years including our first Natty in 1981.
But this year I passed on a game this season because taking 4 family would have been $4000-tickets, parking, hotel, meals, gas, souvenirs, etc.
Just too much!

I am not going to the playoff game for the same reason. I can not afford to go. We (5 family members) went to the Pitt game. Dang. It was expensive enough. But, the playoff games have priced me out of going. First time since 1982 that I have not attended Clemson bowl/playoff games.

Don’t forget the athletic dept fee they approved to add into the tuition bill.
