Is it Wrong to be Tired of College Football?

Not trying to be negative, but it’s extremely disappointing to see the sport we love head in the direction that it is going. I’m honestly tired of it.

I don't think so. I made a post earlier how tiring this CFP ranking and also the AP ranking before that is. With all the spots talking heads, all with personal agenda and pre-conceived notion trying to argue their case for why this or that team should be left in or out of the CFP. As a Clemson fan I find it very difficult to be unbiased as well. So, if Clemson would just stop scheduling a top tier SEC school the first game of every year and schedule a lower tier team like Miami did then you and I wouldn't be so tired of college football. We get USC every year plus usually a couple teams in the ACC are in the top 1-15 with a few others being in the top 25. That is a decent enough schedule to make it to the college football playoff almost every year. Plus with the ACC championship game, that's usually against another top team that we may or may not have already played once on the regular season schedule. There should be no reason at all there shouldn't be two ACC teams in the playoff every year. With all this circular reasoning and non-logical arguments going on to try to convince everyone and the CFP committee to put their favorite team in is tiring and energy sapping. You're not the only one.

I get tired by this time of year. Loading up tailgating home in the middle of the night. Especially don’t like the Carolina game being after Thanksgiving. Should be over before then. Probably doesn’t help that they don’t stink this year.

I’ve had less interest this year than ever. Been a season ticket holder for 35 years. Have only been to 3 home games this year and have not been to an away game since ND in 2022. Just not what it used to be, college football or Clemson football. I’m quickly assessing what I can do with the thousands I could save each year in iptay and ticket $. Pay for play is ruining it.

No, it’s not just you. Many of us are disgusted with the direction college sports is heading. Then we have the “true” fans telling us that we
need to fire the football coach that brought us into national prominence because he won’t compromise his integrity by guaranteeing
a kid a starting spot on the team if he will transfer to us. The win at all cost attitude going on in college sports is not sustainable and
some of us know it. Thats why many of us are getting disillusioned with college sports.

I haven’t gotten tired of Clemson Football but everybody else I don’t care anything about. I use to get all excited and watch tons of other games and keep up with recruiting all over and other news. But now it’s the tigers and nobody else. But I know what you mean.

You're not alone. I hear this from a lot of people when college football is discussed. It will eventually cannibalize itself. I household never planned trips or anything during tbe season, but starting last year, we don't even worry about it. We will watch when traveling if we can..if we miss a game it doesn't even matter. This whole semi-pro model is garbage. Free agency every year, I mean I think coaches should start cutting scholarships for poor performance. That's what these players want (to ge treated lime a pro) so treat them like pros!! When tbey get a speeding ticket fine them!! Give them what they want.

I've decided to go to the Sunday soccer game instead of the football game this weekend. Was planning on going to both, work is sort of handcuffing me so I'll only make one.

It'd be an easy decision if it wasn't the Military Appreciation game. Hate to miss that...but looking more forward to the soccer game than I am the football game.

And I'm not a soccer bandwagon guy. I never missed a home soccer game as a student back in the early '80s.

The direction this year is a great end of the season and fantastic Playoff games. Do not buy the narrative from the kids that have no clue, because all they have known is living in the there are only winners times. Football is still the great game it has always been with 11 offensive guys and 11 defensive guys trying to beat each other silly and win the games.

Not at all. It has nothing to do with college anymore. It's a professional sport with no rules, sleazy as all get out, and has digressed into a year-round auction for players, both in high school and currently already on college teams. Oh, plus it's severely tilted towards two conferences to dominate the entire sport, and oh by the way those conferences are tweaking things more and more in their favor as we go.

I still watch every second of a Clemson game but I can tell my interest in the sport is dropping.

I find corn hole to be fun to watch. Very competitive and you earn every dollar you make. Great athletes.

the FCS, Division 2, Division 3 and NAIA …

Last year Cortland State won their first ever national championship when the opponent failed at the game ending 2-point try. Harding won their (Division 2) title by running over 400 yards per game … wonderful! Keiser was only 7 ahead with 7 minutes left and the College of Idaho had the ball in the NAIA title game … won by Keiser.

There is a lot of super good football out there. Yes, there is too much of the Florida State debacle (and not just in 2024) out there … but FUH-GED-ABOWD-EM … there is too much good stuff to follow!
